Very friendly and helpful staff but it is painfully obvious that the exhibits are written by white people. The way that "Native American Indians" and other people of color are portrayed in comparison to the heroism of the settlers and slave owners is extremely biased to the point of being uncomfortable. We were vendors at the Christmas Saturdays event. The Bastrop County Museum & Visitor's Center was nearby and offered restroom access to whomever. While going in and out, I had the opportunity to meet the lovely ladies who work there. Truly kind people. I also took advantage and looked at the artwork from local artists. I promise you that you will be...

This is the very best place to start your exploration of the area, whether you are looking for shopping, food and drink, history and/or historical buildings and homes, or info on our thriving...
