You need an appointment or you wait for hours. You may not know when you are going to buy a car, but if you do it on the spur of the moment, it may take you 3 or more days before you can drive it legally. They have no stations where you can sit down if you are handicapped. Everyone needs an ID or license by law, so yes elderly and handicapped people are coming into this state run agency yet it is not handicapped friendly. You even have to stand in a line when you have an appointment waiting for a window to open up. Then you have to stand at the window for however long it takes. The toilet is loose on the floor and rocks which makes it so a person may fall off. They should check out the system and the set up in New Haven IN. It's just that that security of state is the only one in the area and it is most convenient for the location so alot of people choose to go their instead of travel farther . The really do , do a great job there. They are as friendly as possible given the amount of anxiety they have to handle with the amount of people, doing theirs jobs correctly, being nice and respectful . But unfortunately the parking lot is in very bad shape and the flow of traffic in the lot is dangerous; bottle neck at entrance/exit without the traffic light due to cars entering from Beckley (North), shops to the west (UPS store) & shops from the east (Xfinity & Bigby) plus back-up from the drive thru at Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
