Tips for Traveling to Orlando Disney with a Young Baby

Listen to ABC's grandma talk about how much fun the Disney hotels in Orlando, USA are. Part 2 of the Orlando Disney travel diary. Near Orlando, Florida, on the shores of Lake Buena Vista, lies the largest Disney resort in the world, with 29 hotels operated by the Walt Disney Company. Disney hotels offer a unique immersive experience, seamlessly connecting movies, theme parks, and themed accommodations. After checking into a Disney hotel at Walt Disney World Resort, we received a "MagicBand." This band is equipped with Bluetooth and RF technology, designed to work with Disney's theme parks. Wearers can use it for purchases, earning experience points, and it also serves as an entry pass and hotel room key. After arriving at Disney World in Orlando with our daughter and grandchildren, we stayed at a Disney hotel. Despite having stayed in many five-star hotels, we were still amazed by the magical whimsy, vibrant colors, thoughtful service, convenience, and comfort. The colorful and feature-packed swimming pools, restaurants with fresh food and attentive service, and shops filled with countless Disney toys and merchandise brought joy even to us adults. At one restaurant, we met a lovely waitress, a junior from Tianjin Foreign Studies University working a summer job. Meeting someone from home in a foreign place, she chatted with us warmly and sincerely for a long time. The next day, she was assigned to another venue, and though we were reluctant to part, we had to say goodbye. The experiences here bring inner joy to people of all ages, allowing everyone to embrace their inner child. #DisneyWorld #OrlandoTravel #DisneyHotels #FamilyVacation #MagicBand #ThemeParkFun #TravelWithKids #FloridaAdventures #DisneyMagic #WaltDisneyWorld

Orlando Disney World Resort: Unexpectedly Magical and Fun!

Stayed two nights at the Dolphin. Here are my thoughts! Let’s start with the negative first. The WiFi was either super slow or didn’t work at all. Self parking is $36/day and valet is $44/day. Resort fee is $45 a night. Digital key did not work for the room. Transportation via Disney bus to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs is non existent. They advertise that they do offer bus transportation but it’s through a third party and is not consistent and does not provide transportation back to the hotel from those locations. Coming back from MK we had to bus back to Boardwalk hotel and then you can either walk or catch the ferry over. Not a big deal BUT much less convenient after a long day at the park. Dolphin and swan are not owned by Disney so you don’t get any discounts like DVC, annual pass holder, or Disney Visa on dining or shopping. Parking lot is a TREK to the lobby so don’t forget anything. We also had a situation that was probably one off but our AC went out at 11:15pm and then the next day our room keys stopped working. Now, let’s begin with the positives. Use the Marriott Bonvoy app to communicate any issues or needs to the staff and they take care of things QUICKLY. The tech was up in less than 10 minutes to fix the AC close to midnight. They ended up upgrading us rooms the next day for all the issues with the locks. The staff really did seem to care and make the guests a priority. There were so many dining options between Dolphin and Swan, you never had to leave. We ate at II Mulano and the fountain for dinner and ice cream to go. Amazing food everywhere!! The resort itself is beautiful and modern and rooms are beautifully updated. Beds are comfy and even some standard rooms have view of Epcot and/or Hollywood Studios fireworks!! Stunning pool and beachside area and access to Swans pool, tons of activities, one of the best resort gyms I have ever seen, ferry boat transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well as to other Epcot resorts, walking access to those resorts as well as walking access to Epcot, fantasia gardens mini golf, Swan Reserve, and skyliner. Deluxe Disney hotel perks at a much lower price and you still get the magical extras you would get booking at a Disney resort. Two free Dasani bottled water per day. Though we did run into some issues, I would book this resort again in a heartbeat and you should too.

I recently spent six nights at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, and it was an experience I'd rather forget. Despite the steep price of $300 per night, plus an additional daily resort fee of $40 that offered little in return, my stay was fraught with issues. Firstly, the accommodations were far from satisfactory. The room and hotel interiors seemed trapped in a time warp, not having been updated since the 1980s. Not only was the room uncomfortably small, but it also fell short in terms of upkeep and cleanliness. The state of disrepair was evident, with dated fixtures and evident lack of maintenance, making it clear that both Disney and Marriott have neglected their duties in ensuring a standard of quality one would expect at such a premium price point. To add insult to injury, the hygiene conditions were appalling. The room was not just unclean but felt downright unhealthy — a stark contrast to the polished image these brands usually project. I took several photos to document the unacceptable conditions, which clearly demonstrate the urgent need for renovation and improved housekeeping standards. Furthermore, the dining options were underwhelming. Both the Dolphin and the adjacent Swan Hotel seem to share nearly identical menus across their restaurants. This lack of variety, combined with the mediocrity of dining experiences, only compounded the frustration of my stay. It's disheartening to write such a negative review, but I believe potential guests deserve to know what awaits them. Both Disney and Marriott should be ashamed to associate their names with a property that fails to deliver on so many levels. Future guests, consider yourselves warned; there are far better places to stay where your comfort and satisfaction will be prioritized.
