Rich Korpi Ice Rink — Attraction in Bayonne

Yesterday our children played a non league NJYHL hockey game with the Rangers. Yesterday our 13 year old boys were head checked numerous times into the boards by this Bantam A team going unnoticed numerous times by both referees and the Rangers coaches. Numerous times our coach had to yell and intervene to get the attention of the refs and stop play. Numerous times our boys were laid out on the ice as the game continued play. Numerous times our parents were yelling to get the attention of the refs to stop the play. This was a VERY dangerous situation for everyone and luckily we escaped it without serious injury. This was a team and a game that we asked to be a part of. We did not have to play this game. Our invitation for this team to come to our rink later in the season is now off the table. We will be disinviting you! Our 13 year olds just want to play hockey. This wasn't hockey. This was "how can we get as many kids injured with a concussion as possible" game! By the way, their hockey director should be fired as he tried to get some of our parents who were only protecting their kids to be removed from the game. Not to mention, this is a smoke free facility with signs showing that all over the front entrance, especially since this is a public school. The hockey director was smoking out front of the building after the game. Against the law, but laws don't apply to him only to others. WE WON'T BE RETURNING TO THIS RINK OR PLAYING AGAINST THESE COACHES. NJYHL...

Very impressive for a high school ice rink. Short walk from the parking area by the football stadium which had plenty of free parking. Lobby area that leads to the ice rink or gymnasium is adequate. Off to the side of the lobby is a snack bar that has a wide selection. When entering the Ice rink to the left is bleachers down the length of the ice. Looked like additional viewing area above on the second level. Locker rooms are on the small side for visiting teams. Area was clean including the restrooms. Players benches and penalty boxes are a good size. 3 scoreboard in various sides of the rink as the center ice was just for speakers. Rink is great, location is great.....however the rangers mite team plays very dirty. We beat them and the moment we started winning they were doing dirty stuff like fighting. Kids were mocking the coaches, parents cursing off each other. Reminded me of the staten island rink. That team isn't use to loosing. It got so bad they called the game early.
