Generally great experience at the Beaverton BiMart. Lifetime family membership is only $5 although more and more often staff will let you in the "gate" without seeing you flash your green (or sometimes even older yellow) membership card. The store is employee owned and headquartered in Eugene.
Old time gimmicks like "Lucky Number Tuesday" make this place a draw to the older set, but younger people will be surprised by the friendly staff, broad selection and reasonable prices. Frequently I buy things here that I would normally buy at a grocer as their markup is quite a bit lower. Target down the street might get you a little bit better price on an over the counter pharmaceutical, but otherwise this store is a "go to first" kind of place. I also like buying paper products here as many are manufactured in Lewiston, Idaho by Clearwater Paper so you're doing double good in the regional economy.
The pharmacy has a walk up window on the exterior of the building so you can pick up prescriptions that way. The only draw back is that they are closed on Sunday. So, if you're at the urgent care or the ER, you may have to go elsewhere. BiMart has a similarly priced generic drug program to Walmart and others.
Recently, my mom and I bought a gallon of paint for my apartment here and it was about 4/5 the price of one at Fred Meyer. Staff were quick to mix and get it right.
Another highlight is the locally-grown plants. If you come in the early spring, you might even get to a store during planting Saturday when the store will provide potting soil for your plants and planters. Nursery stock seems to mostly come from another local company, Iwasaki Farms...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās folks like the rude employee at your store whom are in part responsible for Amazon.com and Walmart putting brick and mortar stores out of business. There is a one time fee $5 which Iāve paid for, to be a āmemberā of Bi-Mart. Maybe instead of rudely squawking from behind a desk for me or anyone to show a card, and in turn watch me walk out of the store with every intention of buying some new hunting equipment. Either give people the benefit of a doubt that they have paid $5 in the past and let them shop. Or direct them to a remedy, like suggesting a guest membership or direct them to a solution to obtain a new card. But yelling from behind a desk with customers around and watching money walk out the door. I prefer to buy local, but you leave me little choice other than having items delivered to my house with complete satisfaction. Is a one time $5 ego fee really worth losing customers. At the very least hold up a standard. Iāve shopped at Bi-Mart for many years. Iāve never been asked to show a membership card. Why take up valuable space in a wallet if itās never actually required. Well, I guess one rude lady does require the proof of āmembershipā. So now I take my business elsewhere.
What exactly are you offering at Bi-Mart that justifies carrying a stupid little card...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is one place I don't need to think twice about visiting. If I need anything at all... they have it. Hopefully my photos show some of the diversity of items available. Not only food, clothes, kitchen items, plumbing items, repair of all types... but notice the guns, ammunition, bows and arrows, .. my cart is filled with clothes, coats, food as well as candy I'll donate to the senior center. One just cannot find a better price elsewhere. ALWAYS START AT Bi-Mart!!!
Here again... I love this store! I needed garbage bags so, where else?.... nowhere.
Of course I did some impulse buying...a lot of candy, Coke etc. This time I found two things I didn't know that I needed. I want to share the first one with you.
I'll post the picture.
It's funny that I forget that I usually buy a container of potato salad here. They have good prepared...
