A month-old hotel - either not trained up to the task or short on staff. I used the digital key from Marriott app, but my room wouldn't open. So I dragged my luggage down to the lobby to get it sorted. When I returned to my room on the 4th floor - it wasn't ready. So I dragged my stuff to the lobby again to get another room. Filtered water sign in the kitchenette sink (but couldn't figure out how to activate it), compost bin was my first encounter in a hotel room, but no recycling bin. Bedding is nice, but the mattress is too soft for my preference. I hate that all the new hotels do not have windows to get some fresh air. Mini toiletries, but nowhere to put them in the shower - only on the floor. But shower pressure is good and bathroom is good size. No coffee or tea or any items that are usually with the machine - assuming the cleaner forgot to stock. In the lobby, can get good coffee from a fancy machine using freshly grounded beans (this was probably the best thing about this hotel). The breakfast was disappointing for a hotel of this level - only sweet crepe was available for hot food - the cook said it changes every few days and lucky me - I don't want sugary starch. Other items that you can help yourself with were all either processed carbs/sugar. I've stayed in loads of hotels in the past year being a nomad and rarely see the bible these days, let alone a book of Mormon -seems to go against the hotel image. Found curly little hair in the fridge - hope it isn't because the cleaner used the same towel from the bathroom to wipe up - eeek! Guess it's ok for 1 night for a rest.

The rooms were clean and pleasant. I opted for the studio suite which has a kitchenette as well. The bedroom and living areas are separated by a wall and each has a smart tv installed for your convenience. The main issue I had was that I couldn't get the fan from air conditioner to blow and move the air around. I feel very uncomfortable when the air in a room is still. And due to the wall between the bedroom and the living room, you have small tight spaces and you can't open the windows. So having no air movement or circulation was mildly on the torturous side for me. These rooms need fans. On TV you have options like cable, Youtube (with ads), Pandora (if you already have an account) etc or you can plug in your own streaming device via hdmi device if you prefer. The bathroom was clean, modern and well-lit. And thankfully it had a sliding door, walk-in shower which I far prefer to those bath tubs you have to climb into just to shower, which are just an inconvenience since you mostly can't actually take a bath in them. Kitchen are was well-equipped for my purposes which was mainly to wash dishes and lay out some charcuterie and wine. The fridge also seemed to be in good working order, clean and bright. The area is quiet and beautiful, and I took a pleasant walk in the evening. It is well equipped with sidewalks as well.

EVENT: This morning the Beaverton Chamber Coffee Connection was hosted by the Element Hotel. The staff of Amanda Bennett, Nicky Miller, and Sierra Day did a awesome job of serving the Chamber members with a smile and coffee.
