Tillamook Country Smoker Factory Outlet (Beaverton) — Attraction in Beaverton

We found this place by accident. First thing you should understand is that this store is NOT affiliated with the Tillamook Cheese company. The folks at the country smoker apparently designed their logo and picked their colors to try to take advantage of the cheese people's great product reputation. When my wife went in she inquired as to whether they use artifical ingredients, particularly MSG. The answer is, no they do not. But, rather than telling her that, the cashier chose to argue about the appropriateness of using MSG. Added chemical MSG can be harmful, and my wife reacts very badly to it. I do not understand why this fool chose to argue about something that they do not even do. These problems aside, their products...

Pros: The zero sugar stuff is decent.

Prices are lower than some brands.

Location is fairly handy (every week or two we do a shopping run down 217).

Cons: No samples.

Beef Jerkey Outlet has IMHO better stuff (but their closest location is Marysville Washington). And more variety. And samples. And I remember what their staff looked like from over a year ago.

The sign they put in the parking lot pointed to a totally different business.

Not much "personality" product, store, nor staff wise.

Bottom line: I'll buy a few items to try if I'm going past, but not really a...

I had a great experience shopping at Tillamook Country Smoker Factory Outlet (Beaverton). The staff was welcoming as soon as I walked in and offered help without being pushy. GG took the time to help me find exactly what I needed and even recommended a few great alternatives I hadn’t considered. Looks like she keeps the store well kept and organized.
