We got take out from Banya. Had previously eaten in before and it was good to pretty good in the past. Last weekend it was below average for several reasons: We ordered 2 orders of shrimp tempura, but only received 1&1/2. Half of the vegetables and a shrimp was missing in one order. We paid for 2! Maki was dry, smaller than last dine-in experience; as well as not very tasty. Salmon skin roll had no salmon and barely any skin. It was 90% rice, the other 5 rolls weren't much better, mostly rice. Ordering online you pay a convenience fee, which is fine, but when you pick up your food they force you to tip 15, 20 or 25% on top of this along with the total bill. They not only highlight (with a highlighter) the recommended tip $ & %, but physically point to the tip as well with their finger. This makes one feel overwhelmingly obligated to tip more on no service. I am a good tipper (20-25% always, even takeout), but being forced into it for takeout is extremely poor customer service.
There are many other sushi places around with far better food and service.
I'm taking my money elsewhere. Banya is not...
Read moreWe first went on a weekday night, maybe 4 other groups were there. The service was extremely slow. She sat us down with a menu. When she came back 15 min later, we were ready to order. But she forgot to bring us an order card, so we waited another 15 min after filling it out for the waitress to pick it up.
While we were waiting, I watched a plate of sushi sit at the pick up window for ten min before being picked up and taken to another table. It's not a difficult tasks carrying food to a table and the lack of effort and attention reflects upon the restaurant.
After nearly two hours, we received our 5 sushi roles, (the sixth one came out when we were about half way done eating those). Overall, the sushi itself was very delicious, but the lack of service promptness makes me worrisome about returning to Bayna. I don't normally have two hrs to wait around for sushi during the week, and going on a weekend night doesn't seem like...
Read moreIf I could put half a star I would. I recently moved from California where Asian food is around every corner. I may have gone in with high expectations but I certainly did not expect to be so disappointed in my meal. The only thing good about this place is the low prices. I got the tempura udon, with four measly pieces of under battered over cooked veggies. The udon was served with “fish cakes” (I’m vegan and had informed them that I didn’t want any seafood) on top of that the tofu was severely over cooked (left soaking in soup obviously). My fiancé had the steamed vegetable udon, there were barely any veggies in there. He is also vegan and the udon broth was fish broth. Both portions were very small. Needless to say after the first bite we were done. Please don’t go here if you want good food. Both of us lost our appetites, will not be returning. This place should...
