I went here to have my wedding dress altered and am so happy I did. Blanca is the nicest person, and she clearly knows exactly what she's doing. She did my skirt and top alterations on a quick turnaround, and for far cheaper than any other brides I know who got their dresses altered. I had to reschedule my initial visit several times, and she was always entirely flexible even when things were busy.
When I came back for my final fitting, the skirt didn't feel quite right, even though it had been altered exactly as I'd requested, so we decided to take out one of the underlayers of the skirt at the last minute (i.e. the week of the wedding) so it didn't feel so heavy: Blanca had it done in less than 24 hours, and she also refused to accept additional payment for this even though it was fully outside the initial scope of the alteration quote. She was quick and decisive, always able to offer helpful suggestions, without me ever feeling rushed or like my dress was just one of many: She cared about getting the look and feel exactly right, was excited about the wedding with me, and I really looked forward to visiting her shop every time I went back because she was just so pleasant to work with. I'd recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for bridal alterations (or any other kind of alterations!) in the Bellingham area. Thank you so...
Read moreI have walked past Gown & Glove probably six zillion times since it opened on Cornwall Ave, most often while on my way to get breakfast at Arlis's next door. Finally, I had the occasion (literally) to stop in when my daughter needed a prom dress. I was super impressed with their collection of fancy gowns in every shape, color, and size. There were super formal options, as well as less formal dresses too. In the front of the store are two racks with shorter gowns, and in the back are racks and racks of longer gowns.
The owner, Blanca, was really helpful in showing us how to navigate the store, even though she was simultaneously doing a bridal gown fitting while throngs of moms/teens circled the store looking for prom attire. The store was scheduled to close for the day when we were there, but being the savvy biz owner that she is Blanca stayed open with a smile on her face and we never felt rushed to finish our shopping.
While my daughter ultimately didn't find her perfect dress here, I can safely say this will be our number one stop for future formal shopping. Oh, and they've got shoes, accessories, and wedding decor too! Not to mention in-house alterations. This is definitely a one-stop shop for all things fancy-pants in...
Read moreHIGHLY Recommend! The owner is such a sweet woman, knows exactly what she’s doing. I walked in shortly after my engagement and found literally THE perfect dress. It fits like a glove. A consignment dress, and it was only $250. It is beautiful, I cannot wait to wear it down the isle. She did the alterations perfectly. She is easy to communicate with (especially being that I actually live in California but everything for my wedding is happening up here). She came in on her day off from maple falls to do my final fitting because I only had flown into Bellingham for two days. I couldn’t ask for better customer service. She is an absolute angel!!!! I also wanted the bottom of the skirt of my dress dyed and she enlisted the help of a nice younger gal (I cannot remember her name :( ) to do the coloring. It turned out so so beautiful. Everything I could’ve ever imagined. 10/10 for these guys for everything- customer service, their hard work, their will to go above and beyond for everything they did for me, not to mention their AMAZING prices- would highly recommend for any brides on a tight budget. Thank you ladies for everything, I cannot wait to wear the dress...
