I wish I could leave 5 stars, as I have visited Palate several times when staying in a nearby bed and breakfast. However, today I was very disappointed with what I witnessed between the barista and another customer (who seemed to be a local). I waited in line behind the couple, one of which brought in her own mug. I saw the woman taking orders add the vanilla syrup to the mug and pass to the barista. As I was finishing getting my drink, the gentleman brought the mug up and asked the barista if he could have a little vanilla over the top...only to be told, in a very unfriendly way, that it would be an extra charge and pointed to the side bar for simple syrup. There was a long line and the man was clearly not happy. I am a small business owner myself. I own a very well known food truck and occasionally a customer will ask for extra something or something after the fact and I would NEVER treat a customer like that knowing that that kind of comment paired with a less than friendly attitude, could not only cost me that person's business, but the others that witnessed it. I know that I will not be giving my business here again due the this experience. Is $.50...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at Palete, a coffee bar that I had high hopes for. As soon as we sat down, an employee told us we had to move in five minutes because they were setting up for a photoshoot in our area. We understood and relocated to another spot. However, when we started moving two tables together to accommodate our group, he rudely interrupted, saying, "I'd appreciate it if you asked to move the tables first." When we explained that there were five of us, he coldly responded with, "I understand there are five of you," and offered no help or alternative solutions. To make matters worse, he did all of this in earshot of other customers, making us feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome. His lack of customer service and the public confrontation left us feeling disrespected. It’s a shame because the vibe of the place could have been great, but this kind of treatment is enough to make me never go back. Some recommendations for the owners would be to either have signs stating "do not move tables unless prior authorization" or just hire better employees who aren't rude to customers who...
Read moreI dont usually write reviewe, and I by no means have a distinguished coffee palate, but this was some of the grossest coffee ive had in awhile. Got both a drip and an espresso drink, and neither of us could drink more then half, we really tried to considering even after getting the smallest sizes on the menu, it was really expensive. The most disappointing part for me, is I was hoping to find a really nice local roaster, with sustainable beans and buy a bag. Glad I didnt, its hard for me to see how this is one of the higher rated roasters in Bend.
Workers were nice enough, wasnt particularly fast but I appreciate that coffee takes time to make, and am fine with doing so, the ambience was great! If I liked their drinks I would certainly go back. Overall long wait and expensive for the quality...
