My family and I went here for a clue to a scavenger hunt, found the clue and then decided to check out the rest of the building because it is a beautiful place. I climbed the back steps alone to check out the view and a lady, that I gathered was an employee of the establishment came out and started treating my family very rudely, basically telling us to go away. I told her of our adventure and asked why the steps were not closed off if they are not to be accessed? I love history and museums, I teach my kids to learn all they can, to think and then do, to always be respectful even when others are disrespecting you. Needless to say we didn’t go in the museum and never will. The way the lady talked to us looks bad on all of Bend Oregon. Come on Bend, don’t wake up and choose anger! My kids might of learned something from that museum worker they couldn’t of learned anywhere else. Think-do. 👍🏻 (Don’t reply back with an attack on me to validate your museum, be better...

My family and I (my husband and our two kids) participated in a adventure lab scavenger hunt over the weekend. This one in particular included the Reid’s school historical Museum. We thought this would be fun and a great experience for the kids but we were greeted by very rude staff that made us feel very unwelcome and stupid for not knowing the answers to the clues we w looking for. (This is a scavenger hunt for children). We ended up leaving without even goin in due to the very rude staff. It’s a shame. What could have been a great experience and opportunity for both my husband and I but our children. Needless to say we won’t...

Pretty broad range of historical info on Central Oregon, specifically Bend/Redmond area. It covers the local hospital's development over the years, which is actually a very interesting exhibit, a nice library, which included a large collection of the Bend Bulletin going back many years, the timber industry that dominated the areas economy prior to the 1980s downturn in the timber industry, the development of roads and highways in the area, the history of baseball in the area, and so much more! Many great artifacts, audio interviews, as well as educational audios. So much interesting information on the local areas...

This is a gem of a museum. The building is a former schoolhouse and there were 5-6 exhibits inside. As a newcomer to the area, it gave me insight into the start of Bend. I was surprised to see that Klondike Kate lived here as she is a staple of the winter festivities in Minnesota, where I’m from. The highway 97 development and the first car in Bend also were very informative.

Small and accessible, full of interesting local history. It easily brought additional depth of understanding to me of the Bend area and helped paint a picture of the growth and change through the years. The mountain biking exhibit was a fun addition that brought back a ton of my own memories of the earlier versions of the sport.

I happened to arrive during a chili dinner fund-raiser. Didn't know about it, but they ended up waving me into the museum for free! Lots of interesting displays housed in a former school building. Well worth the visit (they also have their own parking lot which is nice with the crowded downtown parking situation.)
