The lake is amazing, breath taking which is the exact reason I choose that spot to do a benefit concert for a local crisis nursery. I've worked with the city in the past as well as the police department and never had an issue. This year however, it was a devastating blow. The concert was planned over a month and half in advance, we even were scheduled to go on a popular radio show to discuss it. An hour before the show and 4 days before the event the city booted the concert out of the lake due to over booking and the incompetency of managing their cities events. We were relocated to a small picnic area inside the fairgrounds right next to the RV convention. We had a total of 20 people attend and several vendors and attendees cancel because of location change. we lost a total of $5,600 in order to raise only $200. If it wasn't for the service director Paul Anzalone we wouldn't have even been able to raise anything. I will never recommend booking an event at the lake nor will I continue my work with my program Safe Passages in the city again. This was a low blow and one I felt was delivered personally. I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of professionalism and what the city did has wounded me from ever organizing another benefit anything ever again. The police department is absolutely amazing and I have full confidence in them to run the safe passages...
Read morethe Christmas display was pretty and the fireworks were pretty awesome. but bc the hours are so restricted everyone gets there at the same time and then tries to partake in things - at the same time. there is no flow of ppl coming and going.....so there is no parking and hopefully whichever line you chose to stand in will still be going by time it is your turn bc there will be no time for anything else. my 10 yr old passed on trying for a bouncy house bc he realized that the line wld consume our whole night, that's how ridiculous the lines were. all Daddy wanted was hot co co, 25 min line only to be told there...
Read moreLake was pretty scuzy. Parking for events is horrible. Like going to Lakewood Park on the forth of July. Wrost there are so many streets that are one way, it becomes an IKEA maze trying to get around by car. I should have biked from the nearby metropark. Nice rest room area and the overlook is one of a kind. There is a wheelchair elevator that is impressive. Bridges are nice and maintained. Some areas had lots and lots...
