In our ever ongoing goal of trying all of our local berea restaurants, cornerstone brewery was next up on our list. Had heard good things about the restaurant so had to give it a try.
We ended up going on a Friday evening around 5pm. While it was busy, there was no wait and several tables were available on our arrival.
The staff greeted us on entering and directed us to pick a spot anywhere we liked. We ended up sitting near the rear of the restaurant quite close to the kitchen and prep area.
Our waiter came over once we sat, took our drink order and checked on us a few times while we were looking over the menu for the first time. Variety wise, it was a tough decision between several options that sounded amazing.
Ultimately, I ordered the Brewers pretzels as an appetizer and the Bavarian Pretzel Chicken as my entree with a side salad.
The Brewers pretzels came out quickly (fresh out of the oven) and included a pepper jack stuffed pretzel and a traditional soft pretzel. It came with dipping sauces of ranch and honey mustard. Both seemed house made and we're great. The honey mustard was fantastic with the regular pretzel and the ranch complemented the pepper jack stuffed pretzel well.
As for the Bavarian Pretzel Chicken, I was blown away with the entire dish. The pretzel crusted chicken had a great flavor and was nice and moist without being the least bit dry on the inside. It was topped with a honey Dijon sauce that really worked with the chicken. The chicken was served on top of caramelized onion mashed potatoes and sauteed seasonal veggies. There was additional Honey Dijon sauce around the outer edge of the plate that I chose to mix both my potatoes and veggies in. The medley worked quite well and was very happy with the dish. It would be a dish I would order again and recommend with no hesitation.
All in all, it was a great experience and we look forward to visiting again and trying more of the menu...
Read moreThe place looks like it used to be a saloon from the early 1900s with a few upgrades. Beautiful, maintained, clean, cozy, and big. The men’s washroom was very clean and updated.
The folks who work here were very nice, welcoming, and hard workers. My server was very attentive and prompt.
The only food I ordered was the beer battered onion rings. They were made and presently very well and not greasy. The ring sizes went from the very big circle to the smallest circle. I did find it strange that one of the dipping sauces was a BBQ sauce, though the second dipping sauce was a tasty and thick ranch sauce.
As nice as this place is, it’s not much of a brewery. No views of anything resembling a beer brewing production area- no huge metal bats nor barrels nor anything! Their beer menu is on a small chalkboard that only gives the name of the beers and theiABVs, though the server did provide a beer menu on very crinkled paper.
They don’t have formal beer flights though you can purchase samples at $2.50 each. I sampled six of their beers- two were very good, two were okay, two were not good. It seems their beers are not the stars of the place named for a brewery. That was my biggest disappointment.
I should add that I was here 12:00pm until 1:00pm, and mine was the only beer order during that time! During this time most of the clientele were having food only and mostly non alcoholic drinks, and most likely locals or others on lunch break from work.
Parking consists of mostly street parking that is next to or a short walk from the business.
As a restaurant, full bar, place to go, and the employees, this place is very good! As a brewery they need to step it up big time and step it up fast. Make better beers, make more of them, and present them as the main attraction that will attract the beer nerds as well as craft beer newbies curious to...
Read moreFor someone who never complains or writes reviews at all.... this was the first and only time I will go here . Probably the worst service I have ever had for multiple reasons .... food is not terrible but the service is, which makes for a bad experience. Decent food or not. First of all it took about 20 minutes to get a glass of water .... then when the server finally came over my 6 year old ordered A cheese quesadilla .... The server so I would you like any meat in the quesadilla or just cheese? My daughter responded only cheese please I don’t eat meat. Then I asked if they could maybe do just a plain chicken breast because I am ridiculously picky and I understand that’s annoying, that’s why I asked. I would have found something else. She pointed out that they could do a pretzel crusted chicken breast for me but it had a mustard sauce and mustard brush and I told her I despise mustard . She said you can get it without and I said are you sure because it says it is pre-brushed with the mustard before it is cooked, and I assume it’s premade. She guaranteed it was just a sauce they poured over and I said she can keep the mustard off. So I agreed. Easy enough! We get our food and my daughter has big hunks of meat in her quesadilla and my chicken taste like I squirted mustard straight in my mouth. It took another 20 minutes to get the servers attention just to explain the mess up. By then we were well over eating and lost our appetites she offered to make something else but we weren’t interested. Paid our bill and left ..... An hour and a half there and we didn’t even get to eat.... yeah it’s safe to say we will not...
