I came here to take the class to get my CCW. this ccw course went well above the standard of spewing the laws regarding ccw then letting someone shoot without any real background or practice. Most of the class was in a classroom setting and for the first two hours we had a Cleveland police officer whom we could tell enjoys teaching the class about the laws regarding ccw and makes great effort to make sure we know what to do and when. his enthusiasm was amazing and he was very engaging to listen to even in such a dry subject. the next phase was more hands-on which taught the basics of gun safety. this was good for all people regardless of skill level as i've seen some great shooters be lazy when it comes to gun safety etiquette: the class was split up between those who have used a gun before and the few of those who haven't which really makes this course a good starting point for those completely new to handguns. The safety part breaks any bad habits someone may already have and builds good habits for everyone. The topics on types of handguns, different actions, parts, ammo, etc were also covered. near the end of the classroom time, we would practice different drills that we would use in the range so that everyone was confident in knowing what they needed to do and how to properly operate their handgun. instead of just letting students shoot for accuracy the rest of the class, we focused more on the realistic application of what a person with a CCW would mostly encounter: getting shots off quickly and accurately. in a self defense scenario, there's no time for aiming and the instructors really drive this point. based completely on what friends and family experienced during their CCW training, this was by far superior place to learn. i'm definitely signing up for their practical carry class and the advanced carry class to further my skills and i'm very impressed with the expertise and professionalism of not only the instructors, but all...
Read moreI really enjoyed this range until my last visit. Normally, I just stop in to get a little range time in. During my last visit, I decided to treat myself to a new red dot with plans to mount it and zero it while I was there. The young man working the counter decided he "help" me by pulling everything out of the box. Then, he piled it all back in the box and handed me the pile of material. He couldn't figure out how to get it back in the package. I go out to my lane and start working on getting the battery in and mounting. Had to fight to get the battery tray out and than I nor the range master couldn't get the tray out. So, I took everything back out to the counter for help, and that's where it went from not great to me, never going back to this range again. The guy tried to charge me for targets I never shoot and range time I never used. The only reason he back down was that the range master came out and put a stop to that. I will not shoot at a facility that has employees that can't act in a professional manner. Maybe the full load out kit he was wearing had him thinking he had some authority. In the end I bought the same red dot on Amazon for less with better service, which was none. Update: Ownership did take the time to reach out to me to see if there was a way to make things right and offered to meet with me, as well as offering some free range time. My only reservation is that an experience while there with the owner may not be the same experience I'd have while I'm not accompanied...
Read moreI’m a new shooter and purchased a pistol from Select Fire. When I tried to use it, I noticed the sights were off. I had to aim with the far-left front sight to the right of the target just to hit center. I had previously asked for help in the store, but the staff that day weren’t able to adjust it and suggested I contact the manufacturer.
When I reached out to Smith & Wesson, they said it would take six weeks to repair and that I would need to be available to sign for the return. That’s difficult for me since I can’t be home during delivery hours, and FedEx will not hold firearms.
I went back to the shop and this time spoke with Soni, who completely turned things around. He immediately offered to help me process the return and receive the firearm at the store on my behalf. Then he went a step further. Instead of just following the RMA, he asked if he could take a look to see if the issue could be fixed right there.
Soni took time to research my specific pistol, test it himself at the range, and fully understand the problem I was describing. He patiently adjusted it, tested it again, and repeated the process until it was resolved. Thanks to him, I didn’t have to send it away at all. He didn’t even charge me for the help.
I’m incredibly grateful to Soni for his expertise, patience, and outstanding service. Select Fire is my favorite place to go for help and learning, and I really appreciate everything Soni did...
