I've been coming to Green Yogi for about three years now and I absolutely love it! This studio is small but cozy. The staff are friendly, talented and offer a range of different styles. Nasiem, the owner, is wonderful. Any time I've reached out with a question she has been really helpful.
I live closer to the MLK location, so I'm usually there, but the Telegraph location (the old Yoga Tree) is great too. My current favorite teachers at Green Yogi include:
Reba: Her Monday night class is super packed and for good reason! She offers a vigorous vinyasa flow class that will get you sweating. Reba has a great sense of humor, which keeps class light-hearted. I always leave her class feeling warm, limber, strong and part of a great community.
Carly: I love that she starts her Jivamukti Flow classes with a community greeting, gratitude and (usually) some chanting. She plays the harmonium, which is so lovely. One of the best aspects of her teaching though is that she offers excellent hands-on assists (which I so appreciate after months of Covid-related lack of contact). They've really helped me find better alignment and more range of motion in my poses.
Julie Ann: I love Julie Ann! She is all love and humor. Her Power Hour classes are an excellent mid-week work out. The pacing is moderate, but Julie Ann offers really spot-on cueing that gets you to engage all the right muscles for building strength. She takes requests, so if there are poses you're working on or muscle groups that need attention, Julie Ann is your gal!
Sonya: Sonya offers masterful cuing and gorgeous demonstrations. As far as technical improvement, I've made significant gains in her class because she has an uncanny ability to pinpoint exactly what muscles to engage to move efficiently and get the most out of a pose. Her classes incorporate long flow sequences that always make me feel long and strong.
Those are my favorite teachers, but you really can't go wrong with anyone at Green Yogi. There's something and someone there...
Read moreOne of the best yoga studios I have ever been to. It’s not like core power where it’s “hip” and feels like a workout over yoga. This place is a great mixture of strength, peace, and flow. When you walk in, you can truly appreciate all the aesthetics, even the signs in the bathroom, and the wooden blocks that you use to help support your poses. Everything has a great comfy and home feel to it.
I drive from SF to Berkeley to attend classes with Alyssa. She is stellar!
The classes can get full quickly which can sometimes be uncomfortable when another person’s bum is 1 in away from your face. But it’s full for a reason - classes and the studio are so great! Highly...
Read moreI have loved every class at Green Yogi so far! I started with the 3-week introductory offer, which was a great way to explore different classes! A wonderful community of people, everyone is so warm and welcoming here. I feel comfortable as a beginner yogi to try out new things. The instructors are very compassionate and knowledgeable. As someone who struggles with chronic back pain, I have particularly enjoyed Carly and Kari's Yin classes. I also loved Sonya's Saturday vinyasa–the flow was incredible. As a graduate student, I also really appreciate their student discount. I really look forward to taking more courses here and continuing my practice with...
