Council Resale — Attraction in Berkley

Decided to hit a few thrift stores today. I have never been to this place (nor will I be returning)

Selection wasn’t great but I did find a nice 3 piece MATCHING tray set (1 cup, and 1 cup with a lid upon a tray) the amount listed on the item was $10.00, AND it was also stickered as 3 PIECE SET. There were no other prices anywhere.

I take it up to the counter and the cashier says “Ok, the tray is $10.00 and the 2 cups are $4.00 dollars” I said it says 3 piece set right there, and there isn’t even a price on either of the cups so where did $4.00 come from.

She says “the LID, (yes the LID TO THE CUP) is considered as 1 piece. I said are you sure, it clearly has 1 price listed and labeled as a 3 piece set, and she again said yes, the lid is the 3rd piece. I wasn’t going to argue with her and just placed the items back and left.

Be careful, they create prices out of thin air when things are CLEARLY marked. Won’t...

Moved about 5 months ago and did a quick search of best resale shops in the area. Council Resale has the best reviews. I met Shirley, I think that was her name. She was super nice and tested a toaster for me. Unfortunately it didn't work. She suggested I sign up for their email list so that I can be up to date on their sales. The prices were great, the customer service was great.

Unfortunately they signed me up for additional email lists that I did not authorize. I have received emails from the National Council of Jewish Women Michigan (which stated that Council Resale and Kosher Meals on Wheels as well as the NCJWMI websites as being down. Because their sites are down I'm unable to unsubscribe). I do not appreciate being signed up for these extra mailing lists. Although I enjoyed the experience, I will not be shopping here due to their shady practice of signing me up for emails that I did...

The store has been under new management since 2022 and recently doubled its space in 2025! The expansion brought better-organized racks, an improved and expanded donation area, and fresh paint and carpeting throughout. There’s now a massive home décor section, a separate shoe department, and an excellent selection of men’s and women’s fashions at every price point. Plus, the store offers generous and frequent sales, shared regularly on social media and through e-blasts.
