I will put this here since Yelp hides reviews in the "not recommended" section at the bottom of each company page... all one stars, how convenient.
This place is a dump.
As a former Equinox member, let me tell you, this "signature" gym doesn't even compare. The ONLY redeeming quality it has is that it's blocks from my place and only 30 bucks. But man, you get what you pay for really applies here.
Cardio Layout Why is there so much space between all the cardio machines? What a waste of space. As a former Matrix Fitness employee, trust me, that much space is not needed. Condense those machines together and make room for more free weights and machines. Cardio Equipment They are never balanced properly, always about to break an ankle when running on them because they wobble so much. TV's never work, stations are always either all fuzz or limited to two garbage channels. Typically very dirty, gum stuck in the phone port. General Layout Nothing makes sense here. Machines are haphazardly placed throughout the gym with no rhyme or reason. Free weights are tucked in a corner with never enough benches. Lift up the mats that no one uses and put some more benches there. The only water fountain is on the second floor - if you don't have plumbing downstairs, invest in a water cooler. Weights Weights are NEVER re-racked. Weights are NEVER placed in the correct spot on the rack. Always thrown and left all over the gym. Major trip hazard and lawsuit waiting to happen. If your clientele is too lazy to re-rack their own weights and/or don't know how to count, then hire some floor crew to do it. Personal Training Space What a joke. The only narrow cable machine you have, along with battle ropes and kettlebells are in the "personal training room" which is locked in the evenings. Again, such a waste of space and a sure fine way to piss of your members. I'd love to hear of another gym that does this. The space should be open to members when it's not used so people don't have to wait 10 deep for a machine. And again, why is some of the equipment locked in a room. Locker Rooms One work: ick. Don't go barefoot in here. Floors are always disgusting. Sinks and counters are always a mess, mirrors are never clean. All of the products in the showers are watered down, like waterrrrred down. How do you use body wash that is pure liquid? Towel Service Bath towels barely wrap around my 30" waist and feel like 60 grit sand paper. Gym Floor Always a mess. Empty water bottles, paper towels, napkins, garbage everywhere, shoved in the corners. Again, if your clientele is too lazy, hire someone to clean up after them.
Here's a simple business plan solution, hire more staff and raise your rates to cover...
Read moreThis gym is an absolute joke. I've already complained to corporate but it doesn't seem like anyone cares. They have only one weight lifting machine for bench press and there's always a line of five or six guys waiting to use it. But don't worry once they're off the phone they're finally going to let you use it if you wait long enough. So enough of the idiots just standing around on their phones really rude not following any of the rules let's talk about how this gym decided it's a good idea to take up all the space in the spinning room and move all of the spinning bicycles into the aerobics room so now nobody uses the spinning bicycles. Oh and another thing there used to be boxing bags punching bags that they took down so they can put all these spinning bikes and store them in their aerobics room. So what happened with the room that all the spinning bikes we're in?? So they created a private personal training room that nobody uses and all I've seen is that the personal trainers who work there go in there and work out for themselves and nobody does anything. Parking is horrible and the people that work there are the most incompetent group of social outcasts I've ever met. This entire gym prides itself on being somewhat of a higher level gym then the other la fitnesses when in fact it isn't worth any money to go there. I unfortunately paid for 3 years up front. After going for about 6 months now I'm confidently looking back and wishing I never made that mistake. The attitude I have now is almost to the point where I feel like they should pay me to enter this facility. The machines are really dilapidated. And I think the people that work there have some sort of mental incapability or psychological issues that hinder them incapable of engaging in normal social interaction and intelligible conversation. I hate this place with a passion and wish that LA Fitness uses this for a model of what not to do when creating a gym. I think MBAs and Business Consultants from around the world should create case studies on this gym just so they could prevent it as Business Consultants throughout the industry to show the up and coming gyms what every mistake in creating a gym results to.
I hope someone reads this and finally fixing this place because I actually have a little over two years left on his membership and I wish for at least 6 months I have somewhat decent gym to go to before I can escape the prison that I put myself in. I can't wait to leave this gym I'm sick and tired of it and I hate that I wasted the money. Already looking for a new gym anyways, might just...
Read moreLA Fitness: UNACCEPTABLE behavior in sauna (and no one cares)!
I’m a member of LA Fitness in Beverly Hills (a Signature club!) and EVERY SINGLE TIME I use the sauna, I have an awful experience because A LOT of gym members don’t respect the basic rules of the sauna.
First of all, a sauna is a place for relaxation. Therefore, silence is golden. Nobody wants to listen to your music through your earphones. To give you an example, today, a man, who was fully clothed with his shoes on the bench, listening to music, was tapping his foot to the beat and singing. Also, the guy brought his backpack! What kind of filthy place do you think a sauna is? That kind of behavior is totally unacceptable. Stressful and dirty. OUT!
HEALTH ISSUE: As the management team probably knows (but doesn’t care), if members go to the sauna without showering, it helps spread bacteria and diseases. It goes even further: a lot of members bring in germs with their shoes and sweaty gym clothes.
Also, A SAUNA IS NOT A STRETCHING AREA. If you wanna stretch, moan and breathe heavily, do it outside, as it is terribly annoying to someone who’s trying to relax. A LITTLE RESPECT GOES A LONG WAY.
SAFETY ISSUE: According to Apple, temperatures above 113 degrees F (45 degrees C) can permanently damage the functionality of your iPhone. In a sauna, air temperatures can exceed 200 degrees F. The built-in battery could see its properties altered if exposed to such extreme temperatures. Also, « batteries left too close to a heat source have been known to explode. » So do you really want to damage a $1000 device? Like you, I use my phone all day long, but is it that hard to just sit with yourself for 10 minutes?
For your information, here is a PROPER WAY to use a sauna: Shower before using the sauna. In the sauna, use a towel. Sit on it. Naked or bathing suit only. Be quiet, enjoy a peaceful moment. Shower after the sauna.
The number of bad reviews that LA Fitness gets is astounding. Will management do something for the customers or will LA Fitness drown in mediocrity?
