I have frequented Hard Rock Biloxi at least 4 times a year for almost 20 years now. Never had a problem except once, with them not allowing a mini backpack in the casino, as I had been casino hopping all day and wanted to carry a few things (like sunglasses and personal care items) for use throughout the day, but that all changed with my most recent (and probably last) visit.
As I said, I casino hop to different casinos in the Biloxi area when I am visiting from out of town. I always carry a Yeti thermos filled with water and ice. I grow large kidney stones and have been medically advised to drink at least 3 liters of water a day to try and prevent them. Walked into Hard Rock casino by security (with my usual thermos of water) Friday night (no problem), Saturday morning (no problem), and stopped by again on Saturday night (DENIED entrance due to my thermos of water). Now, mind you, I had visited 4 other casinos in the area that same day with my thermos filled with water and had no problems. Rather confused that the Hard Rock security guy was denying me entrance because of my thermos of water (opened it and showed him the ice and water), I inquired as to why it was ok last night and earlier today. His reply âItâs the Rules of the Mississippi Gaming Commission-no outside food or beverages can be brought in to the casino." He further went on to say if he let me in with the water, he would have to let everyone else come in with what they wantedâ. Thereâs no comparison. If somebody wanted water after seeing mine, why in the world is that a bad thing? I totally understand not bringing in alcohol, tea, juice, anything other than WATERâŚone of your basic needs.
I ask to speak to a supervisor. He, too, refused to answer my questions, especially the one about why it was ok to bring this water in last night, earlier today, and EVERY other time Iâve visited Hard Rock Biloxi. As he was speaking, I caught sight of a person passing through carrying a cup of something. I point him out, and security says thatâs different because itâs from Pie Five, which is inside the hotel. SooooâŚwhat if I had taken the water from my Hard Rock hotel room and poured it in my thermos??? He wouldnât answer any questions, just kept blaming the Mississippi Gaming Commission rules. I ended up dumping out my water and ice in the bathroom because I had a voucher to cash out and wanted to go have a drink at one of the restaurants in the casino. My enthusiasm for gaming at Hard Rock Biloxi ever again was done, but the bartender at the restaurant (which was very crowded) didnât hesitate to happily give me 2 cups of water and ice, when he had many paying customers who were waiting. Now, I do realize that servers occasionally come around the casino and ask if anyone wants drinks and they do have 10oz. water bottles. However, I was playing in the casino for almost 2 hours Thursday night and not one server walked by any area I was in. I would need to drink at least 10 of those small water bottles to equal 3 liters. How happy are your servers (when I can find one) going to be when I ask for 10 bottles of water?
I still canât make sense of this and am done with Hard Rock Biloxi, but I wanted to put my experience out there. Oh, and, by the way, did you know you can bring ice (frozen water) through carry-on TSA in one of those small casino bottles? I did not but saw somebody in front of me going through with it in their carry-on and TSA said that was fine. So, thatâs OK, ice AND water in a thermos is fine at EVERY casino in Biloxi, with the exception at Hard Rock Biloxi. Makes perfect...
Read moreTerrible!!! Avoid at all costs!!||I normally donât write reviews but I felt I had to write this to warn others of the scam that is the Biloxi Hard Rock. ||I have a business office in Biloxi and travel there often (at least once a month). Iâve stayed in almost every hotel in Biloxi. Iâve really never had a problem⌠until now. I booked through my Amex card (which apparently uses Expedia). I only booked the Hard Rock because it was the cheapest rate for the nights I would be there. I didnât figured Iâd be in the room much so cheaper is normally better. ||The first issue was when I checked in. The nights were already paid through Amex. I used another card for incidentals when I checked in. They charged the incidental card $300 for a $120 stay. I thought to myself âthatâs a lot but maybe theyâve had some issues with people breaking thingsâ no problem. When I checked in, the room was not clean. There was hair in the shower and I had a window view of a concrete wall about 20 feet away. I called and they came later that evening to clean. I was there for work so I wasnât worried about the view. I assumed (like most hotels) they give the crappy rooms to the people who donât book direct with the hotel. ||The next evening, I came in around 8pm after working all day and didnât feel like going down to eat so I called room service. No answer. I called back 15 minutes later. No answer. I tried 7 times. Not. A. Single. Answer. I went down and got something to eat. While I was waiting on my food, I put a $5 bill in a video poker machine. The bar tender asked me what I wanted so I ordered a beer. Then he said itâll be $7. I said, I thought beers were complimentary if you were playing. He said they had a âlight systemâ and you had to have enough money in the machine and play long enough to get comped a drink. He said theyâve gotten really strict about it. I rolled my eyes and paid the $7 bucks. Not a big deal but literally no one else in Biloxi has that system. I got my food and went back to |the room. All this maybe worthy of a 3 star review but not a 1 star. ||The 1 star came because remember that $300 charge for the incidentals? They took some off and charged my card $181. Iâve already paid through Amex. I called the hotel and spoke to an extremely rude front desk person who said âIt ainât be us. You gotta speak to Expediaâ. I said âyou double charged me on a different card.â Then she hung up. I called back and got the managerâs name. Same response. âYou have to take that up with Expediaâ. I said, this isnât the card I used for Expedia. This is the card I used for incidentals. She said âyou heard meâ. And hung up. Of course, now Iâm pissed. ||Iâve had to go through both Amex travel and my other card company to get this handled. They told me it was an on going issue with this hotel. I will never stay here again. ||Look, people of the internet. I travel a lot. I donât write many bad reviews. But AT ALL COSTS, stay away from this hotel!! There are many better...
