Gordon Food Service Store — Attraction in Blackman Charter Township

Prices are not what you would expect from a store that sells bulk merchandise. Also, the checkout experience is horrendously slow and inefficient. It is astonishingly inefficient, like early 20th century inefficient. I only go when I have to go and see the parking lot is empty simply because of the terrible checkout experience. The employees are generally friendly, but the checkout system in which they operate is astonishingly bad. Terrible that there is set up for the checkout experience to take as long as possible, all the way down to not even accepting wireless or tap payments. Boxes are inconveniently located, there is no way to efficiently move the merchandise from the carts to a box or for the customer to help the checkout experience go faster. Aside from that, it is hit and miss whether the items we purchase will be in stock. Lately it has been more hit than miss, but it's not surprising when they are out of items. Every time I go to GFS every one who works there who passes me says hello and asks me if I'm finding everything all right. Everyone is always so nice and so helpful. But they have a really high turnover! I once saw a manager bring one of the new employees to tears over how she was working the register! I felt so bad for her. Though she was in tears, she still helped me like a professional. Today when I went back I didn't see that same manager. And I also love the fact that they serve free coffee and popcorn as you come into the store! And they always have either the French vanilla creamer or the hazelnut creamer, as well as traditional sugar, and it's substitutes, and powdered creamer. They have some really good prices on things you buy in bulk, and sell it to you for just as much as you would get it for like at Sam's Club, but you don't have to pay any kind of membership costs or anything. Possibly my favorite store to date! I want to preface this by saying I LOVE ALL THE FOLKS WHO WORK HERE! So friendly, helpful, & fun to talk to.. they really make me feel comfortable & lessen my social anxiety; which I couldn't be more thankful for. I recently fell in love with Gordon's brand of frozen, breaded cheese curds, so I tend quite often. I began to actually shop around the past few trips & to my surprise, their prices are insanely fair, especially for the amount of product you recieve. I did the math & saved myself $200 today, just by buying a few items from GFS instead of Kroger (that's including extreme couponing for Kroger.) That's absolute insanity to me & I couldn't be...
