We fell in love with this town and all of the beautiful surrounding areas. Here’s our 4 day itinerary: Day 1- 🚗Drive in from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with tons of gorgeous overlooks along the way 🏡Check into one of their mountain view cabins, we LOVED the Legacy View Lodge through @yourmountainvacation 🌮Make tacos, soak in the hot tub, watch the sunset from your cabin deck Day 2- 🏘️Explore the awesome little downtown of Blowing Rock. Tons of cute shops and restaurants to explore, be sure to check out the library book sale if you forgot your book! 🥪Lunch at Blowing Rock Market 🛝Check out the awesome playground at Memorial Park 🍦Get Ice Cream at Blue Deer on Main 🍔Grilled dinner @yourmountainvacation 🥾Sunset hike to Rough Ridge Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway Day 3- ⛰️ Head to @grandfathermtn for a full day of adventure! A short but sweet kid friendly coaster through the mountain. @wildernessrunalpinecoaster 🍕Dinner at @mellowmushroom 🌅Watch the sunset at Thunder Ridge overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway Day 4- 🥾Hike the Glen Burney Trail and check out the many waterfalls. 🍻Grab lunch at @blowingrockbrewing 🚗Head home, preferably taking the scenic route on the Blue Ridge Parkway Have you been to Blowing Rock, North Carolina? I don’t have a clue what all the hype is with this place. The prices are astronomical and the food sucks. Portions are small. Booths you can feel the springs up in your butt. Service isn’t great. I took my friend here for her birthday on 2/25 and surprisingly the town was dead so we got right in. We were excited to try it. She got spinach dip which was delish except they give you hardly any bread and want you to pay $2 for more. Pizzas can run you over $30! I built my burger and got tots. My side was just 10 burnt flavorless tots. The ranch is gross. The burger was so dry because they won’t let you choose the rareness and overcook them. And they don’t give condiments with it. They ended up dropping my friends pizza so we were all about done by the time he got his food. That was the only thing they were happy with was the taste of the pizza. My husband’s calzone and dipping sauce was mid at best, the sauce is like tomato paste out of the can. I definitely recommend going elsewhere. It was $100 wasted.

Lando's Quick Review Food: I loved their Shitake Pie Pizza. It's absolutely covered in toppings, particularly mushrooms and a garlic sauce that I really enjoyed. Their mushroom soup was also very good as a quick appetizer. On a seperate occasion, I also had their Margarita Pizza. It was fantastic as well. Overall, their pizza is fantastic and the crust is to die for. Pricing: Their prices are higher than most pizza places, but if you all split a large pizza, it is still cheaper as opposed to getting 3-4 seperate dishes at most other restaurants. You can easily get out for $30 if you all split a pizza. Service: The person we had wait on us was very friendly and attentative. No complaints or anything to mention. Atmosphere: Nothing crazy here but it was very clean and pretty cool. Not a hole in the wall by any means.

During our travels through GA, NC and TN for 10 days, this was the most disappointing of all the restaurants we visited. I understand that this Pandemic has got everyone set up in fear, and yes we need to be careful as much as possible. We entered the restaurant, keeping more than 6 ft away from the hostess station. We were asked to put our masks on until we were seated per CDC guidelines. I advised the hostess i was following the CDC guidelines by keeping my distance. She stated if we did not put our masks on that we could not be served. Needless to say, it had been a long day, I was tired and Hungary (I know that was a combination for anything to happen, so my apologies for the attitude), and this was one a handful of restaurants that were open and this particular one did not have a line. I came back at her and said, so you want me to put a mask on to get to our table which was a few steps away, than I am allowed to take it off, and the server can approach our table to take our order and serve us correct? At this time my husband nudged me (now mind you i don't mind following guidelines, but businesses should educate their employees) and said you know its the Health Department not CDC, and i said I know, but apparently the hostess does not know that. This of course set the entire mood, the food was alright, and the service was not that great (we had to keep flagging down our server to request items, extra napkins, silverware, refill on drinks). I also observed that tables were not spaced apart for social distancing. I watched many of the staff have their masks below their nose, some not washing hands or sanitizing after they wiped tables, then grabbed food to take out to tables, or refill beverages.

I hope my review will not be as a negative, but as a reminder if a business are going to enforce Health Department Regulations for their customers, that it be done at 100% and...

This place is a disaster. I've been to several Mellow Mushrooms in my life, and this one has to be the absolute worst. Sure, it's gorgeous on the inside and the menus are extremely cool looking. But 1 star because of the service. Took us 15 minutes to get seated when there was an open table because it took them 15 minutes to find someone to clean off the table. The fact that they gave me a buzzer for when my table was ready even though all they had to do is wipe it down was ridiculous. A buzzer for a table wipe down, really??? They really need to hire more people. The servers were absolutely slammed. They apparently didn't have a busser either. They waited for a server to wipe down and clean off the table. Your servers should not be cleaning off the entire table and serving 6 different tables at the same time. Try hiring more people.

I hate to even mention the restroom at a restaurant because a restaurant should be based around the food, not the bathroom, but I have to. Who thought it was a good idea to have two restrooms that could only occupy one person each at a time, in a restaurant that seats around 100 people? That's insane. Finally, the most agitating part, there's no designated parking. Every single Shop store or restaurant surrounding this place has its own designated parking that informs you that you will be towed if you are parking there for another place. This Mellow Mushroom was the only place that apparently didn't have parking. Couldn't find parking for it anywhere so we literally parked half a mile down the street. The food was pretty good, but the experience...

So, nobody can deny that their pizza is good- cause it is. But when we went, we were told that there would be a 30min wait for a table. They recommended that I place a to go order, as I had 2 hungry children with me, and said we would have our pizza in about 25 minutes. As a bonus, you have to wait outside- no chairs or benches, just me and two kids sitting on a rock wall next to a busy road. After 15 minutes of waiting I got to watch a party of 10, that arrived about 5 minutes after us, be seated. After 30 minutes I walked back in to see what was going on, and nobody was up front, so I went back out. After another 10 minutes (so 40 total for the alleged 25min pizza), I went back in and asked what the hold up was. Someone walked back to the kitchen and magically had our order- though one of the pizzas was quite misshapen- though I typically wouldn’t be concerned about that. Honestly, I almost felt like since I was a party of 3, with 2 kids, and they figured I wouldn’t be a big ticket, so to speak, we were brushed aside. This will definitely be my final visit to...
