I've been coming to The Care Collective for about a year now and have enjoyed every single visit.
Olive and Polly at the front desk are both so kind and helpful. They make sure I have everything I need prior to my sauna or massage appointment. If you have any questions they likely know the answer, don't be afraid to ask.
The infrared Sauna is a favorite of mine, whether I spend 30 minutes or an hour in there its great to have the time to decompress. There are two infrared saunas to pick from and you can choose to add red light or salt therapy to your session. The saunas are always super clean, there's a whole spectrum of colors you can choose to set the lights to and there's an array of essential oils you can pick from. I usually grab one of the cold beverages offered at the front desk to sip while in the sauna along with my water to stay hydrated. I typically do 30-45 minutes prior to a massage. Sometimes I'll just come in for some sauna time if I've had a particularly rough week and need a break away from everything. It's the perfect moment of calm.
The traditional sauna is also really fun to do with friends or your partner. It's 2 hours of rotating between the traditional steam sauna , a cold shower, and lounging in one of the lounge chairs they have set up.
I book a 90 minute massage with either Megan or Stacy at least twice a month. Both are amazing! They each utilize different techniques to make sure you get the most out of your massage but both use singing bowls and hot stones throughout. The singing bowls are great for clearing your mind and just being in tune with your body. Megan also does cupping, which I've grown to really like. If you have a particular area that needs more work don't be afraid to speak up and let them know. Since incorporating massage into my healthcare routine my headaches have gone down significantly, like from 2 or 3 a week to maybe 2 a month. My body also just feels better and it's great for combating stress and anxiety.
They also offer foot soaks, which again are great to do with a friend or partner. Order a latte at the front desk and enjoy a foot soak and massage, it's truly amazing.
I've also gotten a facial massage, which is something new they are offering, and it was so nice. My skin felt so good afterwards and the entire experience was so relaxing.
Booking appointments is also super easy, you can book online and see availability or call or text them.
The Care Collective is honesly one of my favorite places I've discovered while living in Boone. The atmosphere is so calming and relaxing. The staff is always attentive and kind. I feel so comfortable there. Making it part of how I take care of myself has changed my life.
10/10 I highly recommend...
Read moreTo start off, I have had shoulder, neck, and back issues stemming from an injury in 2006 and surgery in 2007. Over the years I have seen two orthopedic surgeons, several general practitioners, three or four physical therapists, and two chiropractors, as well as a scattering of massages from various therapists and a couple acupuncture sessions. On top of that, I have searched for all the unofficial advice and research I could dredge up when the official treatments didn’t provide anything besides some very temporary pain relief (and sometimes made it worse). Over the summer, I impulsively scheduled a massage with the first available therapist at The Care Collective, which happened to be Mac. It was by far the best massage I’ve ever had. I could tell during the massage that he was very good at his job, but really felt amazing results after the session was over. He was able to find and treat problem areas in a way that felt healing and relaxing. My shoulder loosened, and the pain was less, and it stayed that way. I scheduled several more massages and each one followed an upward trend towards restoration. It was the first time I had good results that lasted, and my shoulder quickly became more functional. I am a swimmer who is very aware of shoulder strength and flexibility and I can tell a huge difference in its capability after Mac has worked on it. I’ve brought several leg and hip issues to him as well, and he has shown a deep understanding of his craft and the human body in his approach to anything I bring up. I have several mental health diagnoses that have also benefitted from regular restorative massage. My mindset has improved immensely since I have not had to deal with a constant undercurrent of pain and burning in my shoulder. I am incredibly grateful to have received this gift of relief and strength during this year, and would recommend him to anyone. It is truly a wonderful experience whether you have a specific issue or are just looking for a next-level massage. Thank you to Mac for listening to my needs in an open and respectful way and for the...

The faint fragrances of fresh cedar, mint, eucalyptus and coconut from the sauna and pure oils the massage therapists use greeted me as I entered and registered. I filled out my paperwork in a really carefully lit and simply designed space. I was given a soft, roomy cotton robe and was offered cloud water or a house made oat milk latte, which I wish now that I had accepted. I had an infrared sauna first, and was amazed by the penetration of that gentle heat. I thought it might just be a gimmick, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Unlike other high temp dry saunas that just make you pour sweat, this lower temperature infrared sauna still warmed me up on the outside, but soothed my arthritis deep in each joint.
After a refreshing French shower I had the best massage of my life from Lorrin. What can I say, she has a gift. I’m not an easy person to please when it comes to massage because I require a fair amount of pressure to release fasciae but my joints can be fragile. She negotiated the terrain with an expertise I just have never encountered in my travels.
So many massage places give off a phony “pampering” vibe complete with piped-in Peruvian flute, and up-your-nose-“aromatherapy”. The care collective is the exact opposite. The practitioners here are all clearly devoted to healing and wellness, and seem happy to be there.
I’m only in town for 5 days, but I am definitely going back, and I’m going to have that...
