This mall was ruined when they took the red mármol and replaced it with a cheap flooring. This mall used to be iconic and know for its beautiful red mármol flooring and decor. It was very elegant and it gave you a sense of wanting to be there and engage with the stores. Why would Simon do something like that? It was done a few years ago. I’m writing the review now because the experience sucks at this mall, if you ever enjoyed this mall before when it was iconic, you understood. If you lived it, you understand. The lighting is off now too. What a disaster and travesty to what was a landmark in Boston. I want to give it a 1 start honestly. I used to spend time here, now the horror I want to leave. From an interior decorator stand point, the mall doesn’t do anything to your senses, for a store with luxurious brands, it sucks what Simon did to it. I had guest coming from Miami who attended universities in Boston and were exited to visit. “You know the mall with the beautiful red marmol”, and I had to tell them about one of the worse mistake in architecture docor committed in Boston to a mall. The “new” floor is also breaking in different areas, another reason they should’ve never changed the decor from elegant to a cheap, like a food courtyard. Gross. Please Simon fix this gross mistake. Bring back the elegance the shopping area used to have. It was like no other place in...
Read moreCopley Place is an upscale shopping mall in the Back Bay section of Boston, Massachusetts, as part of a larger complex that includes office buildings, two hotels, and a parking garage. The structure was designed by The Architects' Collaborative and was built in 1983 directly above the Massachusetts Turnpike and Huntington Avenue highway interchange ramps, which had been constructed in 1964 on the site of the former South End Armory. In 2011, plans for a 60,000 sq ft (5,600 m2) addition of retail space to the facility and a 54,000 sq ft (5,000 m2) expansion of its Neiman Marcus anchor were approved by the Boston Redevelopment Authority. As of February 2013, the project was awaiting final design plans.
Upon its opening, the indoor mall featured as its centerpiece a 60-foot (18 m) high sculptural fountain designed by Boston artist Dimitri Hadzi. The artwork was composed of multiple abstract granite and travertine marble shapes, with a waterfall cascading down it into a shallow pool at the bottom, surrounded by marble benches. A proposed renovation which would eliminate the fountain prompted commentary opposing its demolition in 2013. As of 2017, the fountain had been completely removed, and the location and status of its components were unknown to the...
