Absolutely Horrific Experience – Unsafe, Unprofessional, and Appalling
I’ve had manicures and pedicures done around the world, but nothing could have prepared me for the traumatic experience I had at My Nail Salon on Tremont Street.
To start, the salon was filthy and extremely cluttered—not the kind of space where hygiene or cleanliness seems to be a priority. My daughter’s manicure and pedicure were rushed through in under 15 minutes, yet they had the audacity to charge $45. My own service was equally careless and rushed, with the technician clearly more focused on flipping chairs for the next client than doing a proper job.
But what happened next was outright dangerous and abusive.
When it came time to remove my gel extensions, instead of soaking them off with acetone (as is standard and safe), the technician took out a long fake nail and began prying off my gel nails from between the nail and nail bed. I immediately told her it hurt and asked her to stop, but she said, “No no, I do this.” Seconds later, she did the same to another nail—and in one horrifying moment, ripped my actual nail off my finger.
I was in shock, in pain, and visibly bleeding. My hand was trembling, my nailbed was exposed, and the technician—who identified herself as "Mary" (likely a false name given I told her I would be reporting this)—had no remorse. All she said was, “Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”
There was no apology. No accountability. No first-aid offered. My nail is still swollen, bleeding, and possibly infected—photos attached as evidence.
Despite this, they still made me pay $45 for my daughter’s poorly done mani-pedi. I paid and left, only because I wanted to protect my child from the stress of the situation.
This salon is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The technicians are clearly untrained, there is no sense of safety or protocol, and what they did is borderline assault. I intend to file a formal complaint with the relevant authorities.
Please do not risk your health or safety by going here. This is not just a bad experience—this is negligence and...
Read moreI have gone here for years and am sad to say I will not longer be a customer after my last 2 visits. Recently they got a new employee, I believe her name is, Esther, who is very kind and does good work. The first time I met her she did my pedicure and it was great. She left while my toes were drying and one of the other women was going to close up. The closing woman immediately starting talking about how she didn't like Esther and how she was different and not good because she is Vietnamese. This was in front of me and another customer. The next time I went I was getting a mani and Esther was looking for change for a $20 because another customer was trying to tip her. Nobody responded to her, literally ignored her until she approached each individual and then they all said no- which at 7pm I find really hard to believe...and then finally someone came up from the basement and realized she needed help and helped her. I cannot support people treating their teammates like this and think that the disrespect that she is receiving because she is Vietnamese is...
Read moreKim at My Nail Salon is the best in the business and I literally won’t go anywhere else to get my nails done. I do all my manicures and pedicures with her and I always leave with perfect nails that last longer than the expected time frame.
I go in waves of biting my nails and then growing them out so I’ve tried pretty much every service from regular mani to gel or dip mani to acrylics and gel extensions! Kim always helps me figure out what I need and she helps me come up with a plan to grow my nails back when I’ve bit them down to stubs. When I need acrylics they look like my real nails and they’re all evenly shaped perfectly! I wouldn’t trust anyone else.
She’s also super kind and always helps me out. She’s definitely a perfectionist and I’ve never had a single issue, chip, or anything like that. Definitely make your appointment with Kim if you go to my nail salon!
As an added bonus she’s the only one who does threading. Always love my eyebrows when I get them...
