Unlike any other PT I have experienced!
Maddy is incredibly attuned to subtle changes in my mobility and pain from week to week. She does an amazing job of crafting a routine that always seems to target exactly the problem areas which I have such a difficult time finding myself.
The knowledge and experience that Maddy brings to each session gives me confidence to attempt exercises that I was previously apprehensive about –particularly weight training. Prior to coming to The Method I was nervous about using any type of weight for fear of re-injuring my spine. But my sessions at The Method helped me to ease my way into using weights in my routine more often, and to work my way up to heavier weights. I have since come to appreciate that with the proper technique, weight lifting is not actually scary or dangerous and it is actually very effective in loosening muscles that won't let up with stretching alone.
The office itself is extremely clean, bright, and homey. They provide all the equipment you could need –all of which seems a bit higher quality than previous physical therapy offices I have visited. They even have a shower.
On top of all this, all of the staff seems to genuinely enjoy working together and with their clients. The different therapist operate like one big family and I always enjoying talking with them during my appointments. Maddy especially has an incredible memory for the details of her patients lives which shows how much she really does care about her patients. I love being in such a positive environment where people seem to really like their job.
I had been to three different physical therapists before and after having an endoscopic microdiscectomy for a herniated disc. While the previous experiences helped me with the beginning of my recovery phase, I felt that I had stagnated and really wanted to work harder to get back to my pre-injury baseline. I am now confident that with my current trajectory at The Method, I will be able to work my way towards being even stronger than I was...
Read moreI highly recommend seeing Dr. Meth for all your PT needs! I had some hesitations about seeking treatment for back pain without going through insurance, but now I can't imagine ever going through insurance again. Jaxie's approach is incredibly comprehensive - she took ample time to assess my movement patterns, strength, mobility and flexibility before she put together a customized approach to treat the contributing factors for my back pain. No templated treatment protocols, just a treatment plan that meets the specific needs of MY body!
For those considering a private PT, here are some thoughts after going through the process and some more about why I chose to see Jaxie -
COST You're going to pay more out of pocket - that's a given. But, you have to consider the value of what you're paying for. With Jaxie, you get a full hour of time focused entirely YOU! Not only that, you have access to her in-between appointments via email - in my experience she has answered all my questions promptly, taking time to address concerns / anxiety and make treatment adjustments or recommendations based on my training and progress. And, don't forget about accountability - Jaxie tracks compliance closely!
APPROACH You have the luxury of choosing the practitioner you work with - don't underestimate how much this impacts the care that you actually end up receiving! Of course I want to work with a well-educated PT, but I also value trust, relatability, and empathy. Not only does Jaxie manifests these values in her treatment approach, she is a genuine and kind human being. It's obvious that she cares about my wellbeing and performance as an athlete just as much as I do.
RESULTS I came to Jaxie to relieve my back pain. Not only has that happened, just with 3 sessions and working on hip/thoracic mobility, I've knocked 30sec of my mile time - I no longer feel that I am fighting against my body when I run. My body is moving more freely than it has in years. FINALLY!
Take the leap and set up an appointment - you will...
Read moreBefore working with Jaxie, I had been dealing with chronic and debilitating leg pain for 2+ years due to a combination of overuse, reactivating an old quad rupture, and a poor work from home setup. I felt like I had exhausted all of my options in an effort to manage my pain and return to exercise: physical therapy, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, cupping, trigger point injections, massage, and complete rest. Even after trying what felt like everything, I still couldn't find relief and was utterly defeated. When Jaxie's approach was described to me ("she's someone who loves taking on clients who have exhausted all of their options. Her strength is recognizing how everything is connected and figuring out the missing puzzle piece"), it resonated because I saw my experience and struggle in this description. Jaxie has completely lived up to this description. She has an exceptional and unparalleled understanding of how the musculoskeletal system works. Before working with Jaxie, even the most basic daily tasks (wearing shoes, driving, sitting on the couch to watch TV) produced pain. Through a self-directed, comprehensive strengthening program, Jaxie has gotten me to a place where I no longer navigate life with pain. More so, I am beginning to incorporate running and Pilates, things that feel integral to my identity, back into my routine. This truly felt impossible a few months ago.
Another unique aspect of Jaxie's approach is her commitment to working with clients for ~45-60 minute sessions. So much of my healthcare experience has been rushed, transactional interactions with providers, but I feel cared for with Jaxie. The entire environment and culture of The Method is also unlike any healthcare experience I've had. The physical space cultivates a palpable sense of community; everyone there is collectively striving toward the common goal of achieving a pain-free, active lifestyle.
I couldn't recommend Jaxie or The Method more! They...
