I found Styllistik during covid but after the reopening in Boston for hair salons. I was upset with my previous salon/stylist and how my locs were mishandled. Being a few months in at the time with my locs, I had poor loc routine and an overall installation. Becky took me in and changed the whole trajectory of my locs around. I have gone to her a total of 3 times now and each time has been better than the last as we continue to get to know one another as stylist and client.
I chose the interloc method with my locs. Not only did she fix the mistakes of my last stylist, (holes in loc, gunk in hair from too much product, sloppiness in parting method, an overall crisis in different sizing), she educated me and continues to do so with how to make my hair flourish the best. I really appreciate her help and guidance. I am more than proud to say she's my stylist.
For those who have encountered the bad reviews... I say this: treat people how you want to be treated. Becky is professional with her clients but also VERY straightforward. She is nice and kind. She is also not the type to let people walk over her. She will meet you with whatever energy is given. She bends for those who take consideration of her time and is considerate of your time as well. She is understanding and she knows what it takes to run a successful business.
Obviously, I could keep writing more but I will stop short of this and say: Styllistik doesn't only specialize in locs but ALL natural hair styles and coloring/bleach etc. If the owner is this great with her workmanship, imagine her employees.
Thank you for reading.
P.S. During this tough time, covid has forced us to cancel/reschedule lot of our traveling plans. Therefore, causing us to CRAVE something nurturing like that Caribbean heat, joy, and overall atmosphere. Beckyâs handmade hydration oil WILL take you and land you safely in the middle of the tropics. GUARANTEED. Haiti? No problem! Jamaica? No problem! Barbados? No problem! Trinidad? No problem! Turk and Caicos? No problem! The list goes on and on. I am sure you get the point. If not, the point of the matter is this, her oil will take you AND your hair to paradise. Nothing short of it. Designed, with love and dedication, to help with frizziness, dryness, inflammation, dullness etc.. It is truly one of a kind. Donât believe me? Try it for yourself! Currently, a 2oz bottle is just 10...
Read moreCalled Rebeka to schedule service completely frustrated with my hair. She took her time and listened to every detail over the phone, we must have been on the phone for over 30 minutes. She listened and said âwhatever is going on we will fix it, just come to your appointment!â Headed to the salon I was overwhelmed with anxiety, fear and judgment. I was embarrassed to even walk in the shop. But I did, Beka greeted me with a smile, immediately I felt the warmth she gives off. She asked what are we doing today? I said shave it off!! She âNOâ In complete awe, I took a second and said I would honestly like a short bob and grow it out healthy again. When I tell you she DELIVERED!! Babeeeeee!!! The bounce and fullness I had when I walked out!!!! With my silk press was unmatched!! Before she was even done I was already smiling from ear to ear like a kid in a candy store!! I spent over 300 at another hair salon and walked out looking like a wet poodle. Beka said, just be consistent, she explained what my hair journey and process would look like and I have been consistent with my appointments for about two months now and my results have been amazing. Rebeka is more than a stylist, she is a hair technician, she put L.O.V.E in to your hair, educates you on your hair care routine. So if youâre looking for a wholesome naturalist, that cares and prices that you can afford pick that phone and call or text that number above! The salon its self is whole vibe. Every colleague she works along side definitely delivers!! Looking for a buss down weave at an affordable price? Beka has colleague on site that can buss you down! Loc maintenance right there!! Donât book if youâre not going to show up, donât book if you donât want to be held accountable during your hair care journey. Sincerely a forever...
Read moreThis might be the first time Iâve ever left a review for a salon.
Never go to the salon!!! Avoid it at all costs! I wish I could put less that 1 star.
I went there for a pony tail and the stylist (Malik) combed my hair for 10 minutes. After 5 mins he rudely said "you realize I will charge you $25 for combing your hair?". I just said I didn't know that was part of it but then continued to sit in silence since he seemed to be in a bad mood. Then 5 mins later he raised his voice and said "you seem like a nice girl but I'm not doing your hair". I started to cry and then he started to insult me saying that my hair was bad/disgusting, and that he won't do it and told me to go home. He said he would give me a $10 tip to go which felt insulting. Through tears I said that was the meanest thing anyone had done to me in a salon and in response he said something about me not experiencing enough bad things if his actions were the worst. I went home in tears. The worst salon service I hope to ever receive. To add, I drove 1.5 hours round trip because I needed to do my hair for some plans and that was the quickest appointment I could find. The experience messed up my plans too. Avoid this place and any Boston stylist called Malik. Terrible experience!
I also just realized there are multiple people that had bad experiences on Yelp. And another person that had the same experience. Please don't go and take the chance- it's...
