What a disappointment is the least I can say!! I needed to restring a very Valuable necklace. I explained how valuable and special the necklace was to me and even payed extra for expedited service 1 week instead of 3, less than a week later I received a call that the necklace was ready and I can pick up, I was so excited but unfortunately this is when it went sour. I arrived at the shop promptly and was told that he decided to change the design of the necklace by replacing the light pink thread to burgundy thread because he thought it would make a prettier design, I was so surprised and disappointed I believe my complexion turned pale, the necklace looked very different from the necklace I dropped off. The value of the necklace was originally over 1k and was designed beautifully in my opinion. At this point the seller reassured me that he can redo the necklace and restore the original design. I agreed to take it home to see if I can get used to the new design and come back the next day if needed, Ultimately I was so upset and shocked by the situation that my husband returned the same day to have the necklace restored to the original design. This was when it became much worst the seller cut the necklace in half and offered my husband a refund!! My husband didn’t see the necklace was cut only when i received it at home i saw the necklace was damaged, I was shocked! My husband reassured me that must be an accident that the necklace is cut in half that he does not believe this was done out of spite. The next morning my husband returned to the store to request the necklace be restored to the original condition the seller did the job and than confirmed to my husband that he indeed cut the necklace on purpose because he was upset with my reaction to him changing the design of my precious necklace without asking my opinion, cutting the necklace is pure vandalism. Let alone the fact that he took on himself to redesign my necklace, I would never recommend this shop for any occasion. The seller was so unprofessional and rude.
I was fairly understanding when he explained the reason he changed the color even though I was not in the same opinion I was happy when he offered to redo it, but cutting the necklace in half was very low and vindictive. In a situation like this he could of just offered some compensation and leave the rest. This kind of response was not something you would expect from a dignified shop. I’m still shocked. What would happen if someone went to the hairdresser and requested one procedure and received something completely different anyone would be surprised. But than the hair dresser would decide to cut the hair off. That’s as close to how I felt about the stores response to my situation. Thank you for reading my review. Unfortunately this was a poor experience not because of the error but because of the treatment. I did receive my necklace at the end but the way it was done was so unkind. At the end he did fix my necklace and my husband paid whatever was requested but the way the situation was dealt was extremely rude and unprofessional ** I read the store’s response to my review and this only strengthens my feelings of disappointment. For reference The discount I requested was the extra fee I paid for expedited service since the necklace was Redone in an odd manner that was not expected plus calling 14K gold beads cheap is another poor attempt insulting a customer this only reinforces the vindictive behavior. The choice of string was very different from the original burgundy or blue as far as I’m concerned it was not...
Read moreThis place is an awesome find!!! Spent a girls day out with a friend at Nomad. I had called a few weeks before to check things out and learned that they have tables and tools you could use to work on jewelry projects right there and that if needed they could help out a bit. First of all, when we walked in we were mesmerized by the number and variety of not only beads, but all the extras, tools, and other supplies to make beautiful high quality jewelry and other related projects, and with their offering more than just "a bit" of help, projects that are of artisan quality. Won helped my friend design a necklace, pick out beads and a few accent bobbles, and spent the entire time we were there providing guidance, support and even hands-on help including her doing a number of finishing touches that we as novices would never had envisioned let alone executed. And then there was Kaegan - a self taught artisan known particularly for his wire wrapping jewelry. I had come in with several strands of beads I had bought at Nomad back 2 maybe even 3 years ago with the intent on recreating a multi-strand twisted necklace to replace a favorite one I had lost. Despite having the beads, a special clasp that would accommodate a number of strands, all the other basic supplies and tools I thought I needed, and some experience making jewelry, the beads sat untouched in a ziplock bag. That was until yesterday where with time specifically carved out to work on this project as a means for spend time with my friend, having access to all the 'right' tools, and with Won and Kaegan walking me through the steps, providing tips, and Kaegan by my side helping bring the project home by providing hands-on help including ideas for a more elegant way of finishing it and attaching a different clasp than the one I had originally intended, I now have a finished wearable necklace that's more beautiful and more secure than the original. In addition, Kaegan even helped me repair a few pairs of earrings I'd also been meaning to work on but hadn't quite gotten around to doing. From Won to Kaegan to Beth to Bonnie and to Jake (co-owner with whom I had initially talked to on the phone that sealed the deal for our coming in), the staff at Nomad can't be beat, their shop is amazing, and both my friend and I will be back to make more jewelry, take some of the classes and workshops they offer as well, and check out their shop next door/attached called 'Adorned' which features handcrafted gifts and jewelry from local female artists. Thank you Nomad for...
Read moreToday was a heart breaker. I would never recommend this place to any friend or family member. After shopping for two special huichol bracelets on Pearl St. in Boulder, I went into Nomad Bead Merchants to have slip knots tied where there were 4 loose long strings to work with on each bracelet. A man by the name of Jake assisted me and acted as if my request was simple. He tied slip knots into my bracelets, however they were so tight that no one could have tightened or loosened them without assistance. I asked Jake politely how I was suppose to take my bracelets off with one hand. His reply was “That’s a good question.. I can fix this.” He then cut out the slip knots, which completely destroyed the length of the original band of each bracelet. He grabbed 2 ugly copper button type beads and tied a basic knot to create a “clasp” around the copper. Jake never asked me if I would like to put a clasp on the bracelets let alone if I would like to pick beads or “clasps” out from the bead store that I liked. I was charged more than $25 although he ruined the bracelets that I had just purchased and the copper couldn’t have been more than .25 cents each. Knowing of my saddened heart of my now ruined bracelets, Jake did not care to resolve the situation when I communicated my disappointment. This was the worst experience I’ve had since moving to Colorado over 6 months ago. It was heart breaking after coming into Boulder specifically for these bracelets that I spent around $100 on. I highly suggest going elsewhere for work needed on bracelets, necklaces, etc unless your jewelry is not important to you. I will never step foot in this store again. All I wanted was a simple slip knot tied into each bracelet. My experience was...
