Hello Sugar | Bountiful - Brazilian Wax & Sugar Salon — Attraction in Bountiful

The very first appointment I had had a few issues, she had used soft wax to wax my eyebrows (which I’ve always had done and been doing for over a decade) and for some reason the soft wax ripped my skin. She switched to hard wax and it seemed to do better for my skin but left some hair behind. My underarms seemed to be okay. It was my first time getting a Brazilian done and so I wasn’t sure what to expect. She used hard wax for majority of the service which seemed very painful and then soft wax for the last part of the service. The service although I had 3 areas done took almost 2 hours and when I scheduled said it would only take 1. I had to lay spread eagle for very long periods of time which seemed odd to me. Seems like they run behind a lot as there was 2 ladies in the waiting area (more like hallway) outside the door waiting for their appointments. But every appointment after that was rescheduled by the esthetician the day off the appointment a couple hours before my appointment time. I can understand it happening once maybe twice but not every appointment with no explanation of why it is being canceled. After my appointment had been canceled 4 times I requested my monthly membership payment of $52 be refunded because I no longer wanted to attend the salon and was going to go somewhere else. They declined my refund request and gave me “salon credit” that I could use for a wax service at no charge, although the credit sounded nice and it doesn’t expire. I did not want to continue to attempt to get serviced due to it falling through 4 times previously. I would not recommend going to this salon. This was my second try giving this business a chance and I wouldn’t recommend or return. My service started 25 minutes late for reasons within the esthetician’s control - the client before me didn’t start her appointment until my appointment time because the waxing room door was closed and they have “do not disturb if door is closed” signs on the door, eventually she knocked and the esthetician was just hanging out in there without a client. I got a Brazilian, and it was the longest, most painful and awkward wax I’ve ever received. They don’t properly cleanse or powder before waxing, the wax that is used is awful (even the waxer complained about it), and the esthetician was doing too big of strips which lead to me being spread eagle on the table for an uncomfortably long amount of time with wax that the esthetician was unable to get off easily. I was being pinched while she was trying to get each strip off, it was terrible and took such a long time. Also, this is the first and only place I’ve ever been that does 2 passes with hard wax, and then 2 passes with soft strip wax - and I STILL had hair left behind. I feel like the employees are just out of school which is fine, but then it feels like Hello Sugar doesn’t train them any further and throws them into a situation where they just have to...

I am giving 2 stars because of the scheduler/ Whoever is in charge of scheduling clients into their technicians calendars. I booked online for a sugaring Brazilian, I received a text the next day saying the technician I booked with wasn’t available. Okay no worries I know these things happen, so I booked for another time at a different location. Then I received another text later saying that technician also wasn’t available, I was little irritated but I booked with another technician anyways. As I was messaging with them I specifically asked for someone who could do sugaring (one of the reasons they rescheduled me was because the technician wasn’t sugar trained). I honestly think they might have rescheduled me again but I lost count, finally I had an appointment booked. I get to the appointment and before we begin I’m telling her about how sugaring has really helped down there, she then tells me that I was scheduled for a WAX and needed to rebook with another person. I was not upset with her because I know it was not her fault. I ended up just going through with the wax and she did a great job and if it wasn’t for her, I would never be coming back.
