This review has a lot to do more with customer service than repair. But I hope it can give some informed guidance to others as far as how they want to be treated and if it’s a good financial idea to pay por a subscription of the asurion home plus.
As far as repair goes they did a good job with the three devices I had. My first time going to their location was because my daughter had dropped her phone and her screen was shuttered. They fixed it in one day. I was amazed. When I was about to pay what would have been around $150 they informed me about the asurion home plus program that offers a monthly membership of $24 covering most electronic devices. This membership allows to have them do diagnoses on your devices at no additional cost. You pay for the membership monthly which is $24. The only time you would pay more is if the device had repair issues that required parts or a replacement in which case you would file a claim and the additional amount you could end up paying for would be up to $100 but not more. If I signed up for it they could give me a discount on the total repair cost of my daughter’s phone. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering how expensive devices can be, so I chose to sign up for the asurion home plus.
About a month later my son’s laptop stoped working well. I chose to take it to UbreakIfix since I have a membership and they told me they could absolutely help me. They called me the next day letting me know the computer was fixed. When I went to pick it up, the guy who helped us started talking about laptops and he mentioned his favorite laptops are asus. I told him I have an asus but that it had been running extremely slow. I asked him if I could bring it in to see if they could find out what was causing it to run slow. He said absolutely.
When I came back another guy named Jacob received me and I explained what was happening. I told him I have an asurion home plus membership and I asked him if it was covered by it. In a frustrated annoyed tone he said “yes, but we have a lot of work and we can’t continue to do these things for you for free. I’ll wave the fee for now but next time we’ll have to charge you.”
I thought to myself maybe I didn’t understand what the asurion home plus membership covered so I decided to verify when I get home and empathized with Jacob’s work load and apologized for the inconvenience I was presenting to him. He said he’d be off the next two days and I wouldn’t hear back from him for three days. I was totally ok with that. When I got home I called asurion and asked for clarification on the coverage of the program and explained my situation with the laptop. They informed me that what I needed with my laptop was fully covered by my membership and that Jacob’s comment was not supported by asurion.
I waited and heard back from Jacob by the third day as he promised. In the repair part he did as I was expecting and fixed everything that was slowing down my computer. He was very professional this time around and very attentive. I think he may have felt silly for the initial comment he made.
I didn’t like to have that experience just on the second month of being a new member to asurion being told that “they had a lot of work on their plate and couldn’t continue to do things for free for me” when that’s not what I was expecting if something was actually not covered by a membership.
I believe they are good people. I believe Jacob is a good person and I can’t continue to keep a membership when my first experience I was told something as if I was a huge burden to them when in all reality that’s their job to do. I also don’t expect people to do work for “free” if something is not covered by the membership I signed up for
I picked up my computer, thanked Jacob for his work, he told me to leave a review which I am doing in the most honest way possible and I immediately called asurion and canceled my subscription. In the long run I think it’s smarter to not pay for a monthly subscription that could add up to even more than an actual full...
Read moreI normally don't write reviews like this, but I am feeling a bit frustrated and lied to with ubreakifix. Firstly, I brought my xbox in for a cleaning which they said would take up to 2 days maximum. I called back after 3-4 days and they said it "looked like it was being cleaned" and that it would be done by the next day and that they would call me. They never did. This happened multiple times where they said it "looked like" is was being cleaned, and I was very confused about what that meant, but just assumed that they knew what they were talking about and let it be. (They also said they'd call me back multiple times when I called for an update, and never did.) Then, I called one day and they said the inside of my xbox was completely corroded, it would cost a lot to fix and wouldn't be worth it. I drove up from slc to get my xbox just to find out they confused my xbox with someone else's. They said they were sorry and my xbox would be done by the end of the day and that they'd call me to let me know it was done. I called the next day and it still wasn't done? I decided to give them a few days to get my xbox cleaned, since I had been calling often to hear updates. After a few days, I called only to hear that they hadn't been able to even get my xbox open to BEGIN to clean it! I know the tech working on my xbox is newer, but I felt upset because that meant every time I called and it "looked like" it was being cleaned, it wasn't. The tech told me he was newer and was having difficulty opening my xbox and that he was the only one working there all weekend, and I understand how hard customer service can be when you are understaffed and swamped with work, so I just let it be again. Eventually, they cleaned it but said it wasn't turning on, which was happening when I brought it in, and said an older tech would look at it for me the next day. After a few days, I finally heard back and they said my hdmi port was broken (when it wasn't when I brought it in?) and that it'd be $250 to fix. I decided that was too much for an old xbox when the same consoles are being resold for less than that, and took it home. I plugged it in today to see what was wrong with it, and it works completely fine. I feel very frustrated and lied to! They had my xbox for almost a whole month for something that should've taken a few days, and then on top of that it feels like they were trying to scam me out of $250 for something that didn't even need to be replaced!! My xbox was eventually cleaned though, and now blows out cool air rather than hot air, but I wished they would've been upfront about how long it was going to take and been honest about what was going on. I would've been more understanding had they said it was going to take a week or more to fix rather than a few days. I only heard a week and a half into them having my xbox that it wasn't even opened to be cleaned. Then to have them say it isn't turning on, when that...
Read moreUPDATE 02/01/25: they had it in store for 3 days and didn’t bother to let me know. my big brother had to call on my behalf bc they weren’t answering my calls (intentional or not idk but that was dumb lol). finally have it back and it’s covered in dust and dirt (as is the controller) and none of my accessories were kept with the actual PS. had to ask twice for my controller and then my power cord, and then i realized later that they still have my vertical stand. the dude who gave it back to me apologized repeatedly which was nice, and luckily i wasn’t charged for the repairs that they didn’t do. this place might be fine for phones (idk but i doubt it) but never ever take your gaming systems here.
UPDATE 01/19/25: finally got back in contact with them on 01/09 only for them to tell me it’s “unrepairable”. told them i wanted it back, it’s been 10 days without word of where tf it is currently. save your time and money and mental health and just go to sony for PS fixes. and yes, i asked and sony can fix the issue they said it had that was so “impossible” to fix
let me preface by saying it’s been over a month since i dropped my playstation off and i still have not gotten it back. wish i could give 0 Stars. here’s a timeline of events. dec 2: bring it in, told it would take 4 days for diagnostic. while i was there, another customer with a phone repair came in to pick up her phone because they had not finished her data transfer after 2 weeks. they couldn’t find her phone for almost 10 minutes. i should have demanded my ps back right then. i ran into her in the parking lot and she said “good luck.” dec 6: called to check in, nothing had been done, hadn’t even been looked at. dec 11: called at 2:12pm to check in, nothing had been done. dude named brian (i think) apologized and said no one brought it to his attention, he’s the only one who works on playstations and he’d work on it right now. he called back at 7:19pm and said he’d have to ship it out for a hard drive issue and it’d take 1.5-2 weeks 2 week mark was christmas day so i was very patient and waited until after new year’s day to call back jan 2: called again, ps hadn’t been returned from the repair place yet. girl who answered the phone said she’d put her name on the work order and try to figure things out and call me with an update that day. never got a call jan 8 (today): still nothing
i’ve included just a couple screenshots of my text convos with my best friends (with names, photos, and curse words blurred out) as proof of my...
