Okay, here is my very long and detailed review of this place. I'm going to say I was very very very impressed when we had arrived. Very nice customer service. Beautiful resort and this was our very first time visiting. Which unfortunately may be the last after you hear my review. We came to visit this place after we left our 4th of July. Trip up at the cabin. We figured we'd extend our trip with the kids due to us finding out they had a water park. So we decided why not stay and check the water park out. The place is very pricey in my opinion. I feel it's quite pricey for the location but it is what it is and we liked the place and like I said it was our first time staying. The first night was nice. We found out the hotel pool stayed open till 10:00 p.m. since we checked in around 5:00 p.m. So kids took advantage of swimming so we went down to the pool for a swim. Next day we woke up headed to the water park stayed at the water park basically all day. When we came back to the room, water park closes at 8:00 p.m. kids still wanted to swim. So due to the hotel pool staying open till 10:00 p.m. we were ready to head down there until my son was playing with his toy. He won from the arcade in the bedroom as we were heading down to the pool. His toy rolled under the bed. He looks under the bed and says mom somebody left ear pods here I said oh bummer that sucks. Someone left the earpods. I will send them downstairs at the main desk. He looks under the bed again and says mom there's toothpaste also left behind. I take a second look see. It is not toothpaste and I automatically start to freak and say please put that down or throw it in the trash. That is not toothpaste so I look at it. It is cortisone cream. He says okay so he throws it in the garbage and I proceed to put the ear pods in my hand to take down to the main desk as he grabs his toy. He says wait a minute. I see something else under the bed and I'm like oh geez what else could possibly be under that bed? I mean apparently these rooms are not clean like they should be. He says it looks like underwear so I tell him move so I can look. Don't touch anything and of course it is dirty underwear under the bed along with some other clothing and a half drinking bottle of water, an old bottle. So of course I go into ma mode and say do not touch anything and right away I go to the front desk. I tell them my concern tell them what happened. You know the room was not cleaned well because there's stuff under the bed. My son found this etc etc. They say okay. Well, we'll send a message to the manager. I'm like okay so she sends three maids up to my room to check the room out, which they went ahead and cleaned under the bed with the clothing & dirty underwear which I took it upon myself which I shouldn't have to remove it with some plastic silverware. Because of course I don't want my kids touching somebody's dirty underwear. At this point I'm angry so the maids apologize and apologize and I'm like that's fine. Well my whole point of this review is I don't see how they did not take this so seriously at the front desk because nobody called me in the morning at my room to make sure everything was okay knowing the manager was contacted in the morning. Obviously the manager that came in in the morning what I'm trying to say so I took it upon myself as we were checking out to go downstairs and hand in the key to the room and speak to the manager which of course she also did not seem to think this is a big deal. I'm not sure if it's just me but as a mother and taking my kids on a vacation to a nice resort and spending lots of money there seems they should have been more concerned. And as we are leaving and checking out of course I tell the kids check under the beds to make sure you don't have anything left behind. And again my son finds a hair piece which is like a barrette and garbage which was under the other bed that was not looked under. So I'm not quite sure how this is going to end up but as of now I am not impressed at all with this place as I was when I...
Read moremy stay at boyne mountain resort was absolutely atrocious. our family was already burdened with an ice storm that hit petoskey and all the surrounding cities that shut down the cities around and homes, so we were already burdened with that, causing us to have to leave our home and stay in a hotel. we chose boyne, believing this would be the best option, as we would get a two queen bed room for four people, get to use the amenities: the spa and waterpark, etc. and expected it to be a welcoming stay. we were there from monday-friday.
First, we started with checking in and coming to our room to find that they advertised online two queen beds, but truth be told, it was a queen bed that actually resembles a full, and a PULL OUT COUCH. this pull out couch had maybe a 5 inch thickness to it, very uncomfortable and unpleasant. when our family asked if we had the right room, we were told it is two queen size beds once the couch was pulled out, that’s false advertising and not how it works. a pull out couch bed is not comparable to an actual bed. secondly, my sister and i had started using the spa, monday, we used it tuesday, nothing was said to us about being members of boyne resort and being permitted to use the spa. so we enjoyed two days of the spa, monday was just fine. we had checked into the spa on tuesday and had left for maybe 30 minutes to return to our room for lunch due to a chicken sandwich, like much others on their menu at boyne being $25 and up. when walking back to the spa, a women stopped us who doesn’t wear a name tag, and said “are you girls allowed to be here”, like we were children, or unwanted guests, when you actually need a key to even open the door to enter. wednesday we enjoyed the waterpark, we were disappointed when we tried to book our stay and save tickets for the discount and went to the front desk to ask for toilet paper and towels after it had been an hour or more without receiving any, and why we could not redeem our stay and save passes. when we got to the front desk, my sister asked for the toilet paper and towels, deborah at the front desk rolled her eyes at my sister and said “what do you want” and then we asked why we could not redeem our stay and save for waterpark, she told us it was because we booked through a third party app. this was deceptive, because it did not advertise anywhere you wouldn’t get the same amenities if you booked through said third party. it was also very disappointing, because they will receive the money for our room anyways, we paid for this room like all other guests, we should get the same benefits whether we booked through the resort, or third party, as we are paying like everybody else. we still enjoyed the waterpark and adapted to this false advertising, and we can all agree the staff members at avalanche bay were exceptional. thursday morning, my sister and i went to enjoy the spa again, when we checked in and got undressed i was asked to speak to the front desk and they told me i was not to use the amenities unless i had paid for them, that staying at the resort did not give us access to the resort amenities. the only groups of staff that have been exceptional are the waterpark and housekeeping staff. my sister and i have felt targeted since walking into the resort. we feel as though we’re being harassed because we’re younger (we’re both over the age of 20) and they think we do not belong here or are unwanted guest. this is absolutely upsetting and my family will not be staying here again. and will not be recommended this resort to our tons of family members who live out of town. this has been an actual horrifying experience for us as young adults and has deterred us from every wanting to encounter a resort...
Read moreMy stay Boyne Mountain Resort was far from enjoyable. From the moment my family and I arrived things were NOT as advertised. We got to our room which was booked as a room with TWO queen beds, but only had a full size bed and a sofa couch that pulled out into a bed with a mattress that was MAYBE 5 inches thick. When confronting the front desk they simply said, “it is two queen beds once you pull out the sofa couch.” First of all, that is false advertising, you don’t put a picture of TWO queen beds online when booking and not inform your guest that one of the beds is actually an uncomfortable couch. Second, who wants to get to their hotel room and be told that a sofa couch counts as a queen size bed when they are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Next, the staff at the front desk were rude and had zero hospitality skills. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a woman named Debra, who works at the front desk. She was unkind from the moment I arrived at the desk simply asking for toilet paper and towels that I had asked for hours prior and never received. She said “so hold on, what all do you need?” Cutting me off mid-sentence, asking me to repeat myself twice, and in an abrupt tone. ANOTHER THING, if you book through Priceline (which is where we booked because we have a card through them) you don’t get ANY of the stay and save discounts. Which is NOT made clear anywhere on their website or any website for that matter. So while paying the SAME EXACT PRICE as everyone else who booked through Boyne’s website, you don’t get a discount to use things like the water park. If anything about this trip was okay, it was the water park and their staff. Everyone at Avalanche Bay was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a clean facility, UNLIKE the pool and broken hot tubs they provide guests with. The pool was full of nasty bugs and leaves, and the jets on the hot tub don’t work. The food is pretty good, a little pricey especially for the service you receive. I have no problem paying for services, but when those services do not come as advertised and the staff members are rude and make me feel unwelcome, it does become a problem. Being that Boyne Mountains lodging pricing aren’t terrible, the food and drinks are rather expensive. One mixed drink is about 25 dollars, and the service is not great. If I’m paying 25 dollars for a drink, the service should at least be adequate. Besides that, the housekeeping staff was very helpful but you can tell they are treated poorly. Overhearing some of the loud “conversations” that occurred several times in the hallway, the housekeeping staff are not treated fairly, but the rooms are very clean and well maintained. I have been to a lot of resorts, and this is by far the shittiest resort I’ve ever been to in my life, not worth the money, and I’ve never been so poorly treated by staff in my life. I will not be coming back here to snowboard either after this experience, which is unfortunate because I usually get a season pass. Just a heads up to anyone who wants to stay here, it’s not worth the money. It’s beautiful and family-friendly, but I was sorely...
