Absolutely chaotic and out of control. We've never seen this at other skate centers. Kids going the wrong direction, having no regard for others, throwing Gatorade bottles on the track, jumping suddenly in front or right into people. Adults walking around the track without skates and congrgating in large groups blocking people from entering or exiting the track. Too many people with trainers using them to wreak havoc instead of learn. The rental skates are not properly maintained. I had to ask the wheels to be tightened and then another set of wheels came loose. The third time they gave me a different pair and they weren't perfect but much better. I've never had any of these issues elsewhere including Rivergate. We may try again on an adult or teen night, but I was not impressed. They need to institute some rules and enforce them because this is nonsense for the price we paid.
UPDATE: We went on experienced skater night (Thursday) in hopes it would be better and it is apparently the only time they can be bothered to enforce a single rule. They spent the whole night hollering at slower skaters to move toward the center. People who were literally moving toward the outside to get off the floor were screamed at. I was hollered at when I slowed down even though it was OBVIOUS that a huge group was in front of me with no openings to pass. So of course I slowed down because crahsing isn't my jam. There was a crash later in the night and the floor had to be cleared to let the woman off. I'm surprised they don't make you sign a waiver like many other places do considering the wild west atmosphere.
Meanwhile for the first 30 to 60 minutes a pack, a literal pack, of good skaters were skating on the outside in a long and intentional line that blocked medium level skaters like myself from being able to enter and exit the floor.
So at this rink you have the choice between skating with children who don't know how to skate and crowd and cut you off without obeying a single rule or you can skate with very experienced people who won't have the decency to let medium level skaters move toward the center.
There seems to be no time at this rink for the medium level skater to skate and enjoy themselves and certainly no time to learn and advance their skills.
At least as the night wore on the wolf pack hoard of fast skaters finally stopped blocking everyone from being able to...
Read moreI introduced my 14 year old granddaughter to roller skating a few months ago. We drive from Murfreesboro to Brentwood Skate Center every other Saturday night and have enjoyed our time here. Tonight on Friday June 17, 2022, I drove from Brentwood, where I work, to Murfreesboro, where I live, to pick up my granddaughter then drove to Mt. Juliet to pick up her BFF and back to Brentwood Skate Center.. While standing at the counter purchasing a ticket for myself, my granddaughter and her friend, the two were excited about being here and my granddaughter put her arm around her friend’s waist encouraging her about how much fun they were going to have skating. The short, older, heavy set woman at the ticket counter says to my granddaughter and her friend while I’m standing there “To watch the PDA that “they” don’t allow that here.” I looked at the woman and said what’s PDA, when she told me what the acronym she just referenced meant. I stood there shocked that she would say this in front of me to my girls. I decided not to say anything to her to not embarrass my granddaughter and her friend. As I sit here and watch couples on the floor with arms around each other, holding hands, boys hugging each other, girls holding hands, couples sitting in each other across the rink, this woman who I was told was the manager had the audacity to embarrass my granddaughter and her friend. This woman assumed that my granddaughter’s friend was a boy because she had short hair and decided to humiliate the two by calling attention to my granddaughter putting her arm around her friend. This woman needs to check herself and take some public relation courses to improve her management skills when dealing...
Read moreIf ever there were a place in the Muggle world that held a touch of magic, it would be the Brentwood Skate Center. For decades, my family has returned to this cherished spot, and it never fails to cast its spell of fun and nostalgia. The atmosphere hums with energy, like the Great Hall at a feast, filled with music and laughter. It’s a place where wizards, witches, and Muggles alike can glide across the rink as if bewitched, surrounded by a timeless charm that feels almost enchanted.
But beware, young skaters can be a bit like rogue Bludgers, zipping unpredictably across the rink and occasionally tumbling into your path. It’s a test of your reflexes, much like dodging a hex in a duel, but it’s all part of the family-friendly magic that makes this place so delightful.
And every so often, you may find yourself glancing at someone and thinking, “Could it be?” Yes, even the occasional celebrity ventures here for a bit of skating respite. The locals, true to the spirit of community, let them enjoy their time without disturbance—proof that even among Muggles, there is a deep respect for those seeking simple pleasures.
Brentwood Skate Center is no ordinary rink. It’s a Pensieve of memories, a place where the mundane transforms into the extraordinary, and where families come together to create moments they’ll treasure for years. Whether you’re a first-year skater or a seasoned pro, this place...
