a few years ago, i bought two vinyls from here that turned out to be counterfeit and bad quality. when i called about it to understand what had happened, the man on the phone beratedme, and straight up yelled at me, for not knowing they were counterfeits since they were being sold for so cheap (relatively). I've sat on this for a while to settle my emotions, but I want to help other potential customers. for me, this situation has really called into question how they/that employee treat customers if they willingly sell unmarked counterfeit vinyls and yell at newer vinyl collectors for not knowing better.
edit: i disagree with the business's response. As I recall, I was told I can return for in-store credit after pressing the issue. When I asked if I could be refunded just for money, I was told that because I had unwrapped the vinyls, that they had lost value and could not be refunded for the same value. As I pressed one more time, this was the conversation i described in the original post in which i was berated for not knowing better. In store credit refunds are fine, but the way I was spoken to was not. Additionally, it was never communicated that this was an unofficial copy of the vinyls on the sign or at the register. Something to think about if you are shopping here.
The lack of addressing/glossing over this in the business's response is consistent with my initial experience of rudeness. I am leaving this review not to solicit a refund or out of spite, but as a cautionary tale to those...
Read moreWow, what a find! This place turns the tables on all the major record stores in Boston that I’ve been wasting hundreds of hours in searching for used records in playable condition.
I am still spinning from my first visit: I am astounded at the quality of the records I purchased—all of them between 40 and 50 years old! There are records at this tiny shop that I’ve been searching years for at the other bigger, well-known and long-established stores. I cannot fathom how the owner, Jonathan, who at first blush and thereafter is highly affable and quite obviously knowledgeable, is able to carry this off. The prices are not really consonant with the quality of the records; I would expect to pay much more—anywhere!
There are also a lot of CDs, and even an interesting selection of cassettes; I bought some of these as well. In fact, I went into the store expecting to buy maybe one record, maybe one or two CDs. I left with 14 records. Money has never been...
Read moreMy favorite record store to go to in all of the Boston area. There’s just so much great music to find here. I walk out with a pile of music every time I go — music I’ve never been able to find in any other stores in the area. I could order music online... or I could go to Village Vinyl and unexpectedly find some awesome familiar and new music. I’ve been going with the latter lately and couldn’t be happier. The staff is wonderful too, they play great music and make you feel very welcome. I could spend hours in here just admiring all of the various HiFi equipment and browsing through all of their music. I probably do spend at least an hour when I go and don’t even realize it. Love this place!...
