Diana Stelin Gallery — Attraction in Brookline

I just completed a 6-class drawing and painting course with Diana Stelin, and I’m truly amazed at what I was able to accomplish. Before this course, I honestly couldn’t draw anything — I was uncomfortable even picking up a pencil! But with Diana’s patient guidance, clear instruction, and encouragement, I quickly gained both skills and confidence.

Diana has a wonderful way of breaking things down and making the creative process approachable. Each class built upon the last, and by the end, I created pieces I never thought I was capable of. The supportive atmosphere she creates makes learning fun and stress-free. Discussing each others work at the end of each session makes you learn from your classmates a lot.

If you’ve ever thought “I can’t draw”, this course will absolutely change your mind. I’m so impressed with what I achieved in just six sessions, and I’m excited to keep learning and creating....

I have taken two classes with Diana, attended a workshop and event. All of these experiences have been incredible. Diana exudes warmth, compassion and kindness. Just being in her presence is a gift. She brings intentionality and awareness to all she does. She begins each class or workshop with a grounding meditation to ensure everyone is fully present and in a space to truly enjoy their experience. In addition, she encourages playfulness and fun.

I enjoy how Diana shows technique and builds upon them each week in the classes. After a couple of classes, I was able to identify techniques John Singer Sargent used when I went to an exhibit. My painting skills have improved, but more importantly for me, I have enjoyed the process with Diana's unwavering intentionality, warmth and kindness.

A group of 16 five year old preschool children from Kehilath Israel visited Diana's studio last week to create Passover Seder plates. Diana's studio is bright and welcoming. The tables were neatly and invitingly set up for the children like saying: "Are you ready to do art?" Diana, and her colleague Flor, guided and assisted the children through a full hour of creativity, learning and fun. It was a wonderful activity that offered each child the opportunity of self expression and discovery.
