I hope you like cats
As others have said, this place is peaceful, clean and has great facilities Very pet friendly and easy to access. There is a nice park within a few yards (currently under renovation) and another large green space being built across the river in Early. There are a LOT of cats. Some notched for TNP, a couple with collars, but mostly just random cats everywhere. This is clearly an area where locals dump their unwanted kittens, including a litter someone dumped while we were here. A neighboring RVer took them in luckily bc the week we were here the forecast was for 22° and snow. Really horrible to just dump cats at all, but especially young ones when it’s about to be deadly cold. Dog people seem to Pick up after themselves, but there was a bit of cat poo to dodge. There’s also a French goose who is either a pet or dumped here as well.
Other than the roaming cat situation there was really nothing of note. Still a five star stay for us but I do think people need to know that they may end up with a cat meowing at their door to be let in at night when it is really cold. I would love to see the facility put in a feral cat house so they have somewhere to go instead of the cats hoping they meow at the right door :( Not the facility’s fault at all but if we were staying longer than a week, we would be...
Read moreNice park, level site, and good power level. Laundry was good - 3 washers, 4 dryers. Wifi worked well. Right on the bank of the Pecan Bayou. One big strike against the park - way too many feral cats running around and at least 1 couple feeding them and encouraging them to hang around while making no attempt to clean up after them. Thank you very much neighbor for the mess I stepped in! Feral cats are a scourge on the environment. Experts estimate that they are responsible for killing up to 4 billion birds each year and billions more small mammals and reptiles. Their waste is also a health issue to wildlife and humans. If there is no rule against feeding them, there should be. And, if there is a rule, then it needs to be rigorously enforced. The ideal solution is to send an animal control officer and a veterinarian to the park periodically. Animal control could tranquilize the cats and the vet could euthanize them...
Read more$35 per day with military discount After making reservations I received site number 17 and other park info via text and instructed to pull on in, set up, then drop by office to pay. After turning down Riverside Park Dr. I wasn’t sure what my eyes were telling me. You pull into your site straight off of the road. Put another way, when you see your site, turn in and set up. If you pull into the park first, you will be all backward.
My site looked to be over 100 ft. long as I easily parked my 35’ 5th wheel and 2 trucks with lots of room to spare. Lots of grass on either side of the cement site, but no picnic table or fire ring. There was a nice public patio overlooking the peaceful river right in front of my camp site. Great WiFi.
I would recommend.
Eat at Underwood Cafeteria about .5 miles away. Beautiful public park right across the street with disk golf and nice looking...
