Butte-Silver Bow Public Library — Attraction in Butte

i like taking my child up there to the childrens room to play i really like it up there.. a few things i dont like .. is what you can and cant do on the computer. i wish for the adult computers they would let us do a little more than just research or home work some people dont have computers.. but its very limited on what you can and cant do.. another thing is .. the lady in the childrens room is really rude.. you ask her a question and she is kind mean about answering. the lady gave this kid a free penny for the gum. well my child wanted one to it was his first time.. he went up and asked if he could have a penny too.. he is 4.. and she was like rude and said ask nicely he didn't know she gave him a few tries then told him.. nope maybe next time... he was really upset.. if your going to give one child a penny for a treat.. do it were no body sees it..she finally came over and said did you figure out the nice word.. he said please in a low voice and finally she gave it to him.... she is not really a nice person.. if your going to be working in the childrens sectiton...at least do something or be nice.. not sit on your butt all day... whats the point...

As a librarian and trans woman myself, I am beyond disgusted with your actions. Your primary responsibility is to protect intellectual freedom and the 1st Amendment at all costs. You do not simply roll over and say "we were overruled." If you are overruled, then you fight back again and again until you win. If this is the measure of your resolve, then you are a poor service to your community and a disgrace to libraries everywhere. You are contributing to a massive assault on the civil liberties of a marginalized community and you should be ashamed of yourself. You do not stand by your trans patrons and you have no right to claim that you do.

And nobody believe the replies to the other comment: one of their own librarians told a trans woman no and used the phrase "transgendered" -- deeply outdated,...

You can't claim to be inclusive if you refuse to stand behind your trans brothers and sisters. Shame on you.

Force their hand and make them use the law against you. A recommendation is just that, either be defiant in your support or be compliant in your part of erasing the voices of...
