I consult the Room Escape Artist blog for the best escape room recommendations in my area and due to Red Fox Escapes winning a Golden Lock Award for their Body Shop room, I knew I had to try it! It did not disappoint! This room is unforgettable, hilarious, and full of fun surprises. I have done over 50 escape rooms around the New England area and even in Los Angeles and Philadelphia and this is among the top. Beautifully crafted room that still maintains the small business escape room feel that new corporate chain escape rooms lack. The rooms are immersive and the staff are great. Great staff is actually a very important component to a great escape room. Maddie was wonderful during our Body Shop room experience and even debriefed with us at the end, when we finished the room, how some of the puzzles worked and how she actually customized the room to make it more challenging for us (we told her at the very beginning that we do not like receiving hints unless we explicitly beg for them) since we were doing so well. I have never been to a room with on-the-fly difficulty customization and was very impressed! When we were talking in the lobby about how much fun we had and debating if we should do another room there while we were in the area (we traveled from CT) a staff member overheard us and offered to put us in The U Boat room within the next 5 minutes since coincidentally it had not been booked yet. It was fate! Of course we had to do it! The staff quickly made sure it was ready for us and led us in! Xander was our game master for this room and his enthusiasm when explaining the room was infectious. This room was highly immersive as well and featured a very surprising and exciting element to it that was a delight! This was a great room (though The Body Shop is still the stunner of the entire place) and we enjoyed it. Overall Red Fox Escapes is a must visit for all escape room enthusiasts and we can't wait to do their Heist Room along with their fourth room that is set to open before the end of this year! Come for the great puzzles, the remarkable room craftsmanship, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I recommend at least 4-5 people for each room and more if some are unexperienced or their first time doing an escape room since the puzzles are challenging for those unfamiliar.

I went with a group of 8 to do the U-boat escape room and I was initially worried 8 people would be too many and there wouldn’t be enough puzzles to have everyone properly engaged. Luckily, the 8 of us spent the hour rushing around solving an almost endless string of puzzles. My favorite aspect of the room was the way clue and puzzles linked together in ways you wouldn’t have even guessed. The narrator was also great with his timing of hints and as a result the flow of game never felt interrupted. I would definitely try this out with a larger group as I did because you can really jump around solving puzzles with different teammates and have that “a-ha” moment with everyone.

Our family recently had an incredible adventure at Red Fox Escapes in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where we took on "The Heist" - and it was nothing short of awesome!

From the moment we stepped into the room, we were transported into a world of intrigue and excitement. The attention to detail in the set design was remarkable, with high-quality artwork and props that truly immersed us in the experience. The classic secret hideout setting provided the perfect on-ramp to warm us up for the main event.

What set "The Heist" apart was its unique take on the art heist theme. Red Fox Escapes cleverly wove puzzles through the artwork in a way we'd never seen before. The challenges were fair and well-clued, striking the perfect balance between difficulty and enjoyment. We especially appreciated that there was no tedious searching involved - all the puzzles were confidently on display, allowing us to focus on solving them.

The game flow was smooth and engaging, with each solved puzzle leading to new surprises and revelations. We found ourselves working together, bouncing ideas off each other, and experiencing those satisfying "aha!" moments throughout the hour. The room's difficulty was well-calibrated, providing just the right level of challenge for our family team.

One of the most impressive aspects was how Red Fox Escapes incorporated classic heist tropes but gave them their own unique twist. We couldn't navigate through them in the usual way, which added an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to our experience.

David at Red Fox Escapes was fantastic, providing clear explanations and being attentive to our needs throughout the game. His passion for creating an outstanding escape room experience was evident in every aspect of "The Heist".

We managed to complete the room with minutes to spare, feeling a great sense of accomplishment and thoroughly entertained. The experience left us buzzing with excitement and eager to try Red Fox Escapes' other rooms in the future.

If you're looking for a top-notch escape room experience in the Boston area, we can't recommend Red Fox Escapes and "The Heist" highly enough. It's a perfect blend of clever puzzles, immersive storytelling, and pure fun that will leave you and your family with lasting...

10/14/2024 update: Just did the Art Heist yesterday and it's probably my favorite room of the lot! (Though all of them are excellent) Great theming, with the right music to enhance the experience and puzzles that feel integrated with the storyline. I've heard there's a fourth room in development, so I'm looking forward to playing that whenever it's ready! I'll start off by saying that I've done about twenty escape rooms at this point, and the two Red Fox rooms that I've played (Body Shop and U-Boat) are among the best that I've done! No spoilers, but there's a part in U-Boat that is the most impressive engineering I have ever seen in an escape room.

The puzzles are fun yet also challenging, and they are cleverly integrated into the storyline of each room. I especially appreciated how rooms could be tailored to be more or less challenging depending on the experience level of the group. A lot of thought and care went into the design of these rooms, and it shows.

Needless to say, I'll be back to try the The Heist sometime soon! Highly recommend these...
