African Caribbean Foods & Market — Attraction in Campbell

They have a lots of African and Caribbean grocery. I found what I needed but things are pricey. The first time I went to the store it was very messy and papers were all over floor behind the register. The owner which is the old man doesn’t pay attention to his customers and could be rude. His customer service was horrible. His constantly on his phone watching videos and just ignores his customers. The other couple of times I went to the store the store was well organized and clean due to his grandson who helps him out. Also much better customer service with the grandson always asking customers if they need help and greeting them. Definitely prefer him over the old man. It’s a night and day difference when the grandson is around the store and when his not. So I’ll give it a 3 stars overall thanks to the grandson otherwise it’s an 1 star...

Despite the fact I didn't find I what I needed, selection was ok. However, the service is not great...at all! Acknowledge and greet your customers first of all. Secondly, I didn't need to be followed and watched like a hawk just because I picked up items to read the label. Another customer came in and was occupying the clerk's attention and although I was in front of the checkout counter, the rest of the family had to come out and be on watch. The older guy even had the audacity to stand directly in front of me, blocking the shelf and me from seeing the items as if he was watching the camera monitors. Stood there for a little while, even though there was nothing or anyone on the camera to be monitored. I won't spend money at brown/ melanated establishments especially with this type of treatment...

This is a very nice place and carries all the spices and foods that I need to cook motherland foods. The owner is very nice and accommodates testing. For example I was skeptical of the Yams and wasn't sure if they were still good. He gave me a knife to cut and make sure they were not spoilt. He has a lady who discretely checks to make sure there is no theft but it doesn't bother me as it is a small business and once a while you can get shoppers with bad intentions. Most of the time you can call ahead of time to make sure items are available because some items fly off the shelves faster than others. It is a nice place to shop.
