Extremely disappointed by professionalism despite beautiful flowers
The Malone Flower Shop did an excellent job with the floral arrangements for my wedding — the flowers themselves were absolutely stunning. However, the overall experience was deeply disappointing due to how the situation was handled afterward.
On the day of our wedding, the boutonnières we ordered were never delivered. This meant that none of my groomsmen, my grandfather who walked me down the aisle, or my husband’s father had boutonnières — something that was very meaningful to us and clearly listed in our signed contract. While I was upset, the flowers that were delivered were so beautiful that I decided to let it go and wasn’t even planning to request a refund.
A few days later, I received an email from Susan informing me (not asking) that she would be charging my card an additional $106 because my coordinator asked her to drape fabric across the arch — fabric that I had purchased myself. If she had simply mentioned there was an extra fee, my coordinator would have handled it, but instead, I was just charged after the fact.
When I called to resolve the issue, Susan initially claimed we had never ordered boutonnières at all. After placing me on hold to find the original contract, she realized we had — and her explanation was that she had only worked off the portion of the contract I had re-scanned after signing. Despite acknowledging that the mistake was on their end, she only offered a $14 refund — the difference between the missing boutonnières and the surprise draping fee.
At minimum, I expected accountability and a sincere apology for the oversight on such an important day. Instead, I was met with blame and an additional charge for a service I didn’t authorize.
While their design work is beautiful, the lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer service completely overshadowed the quality of the flowers. I would caution other couples to double-check every detail in writing and be prepared for...
Read moreUpdate #2 - 2024 It's been three years of impeccable service. Bill, who delivers the flowers, even visited my husband's grave on Memorial Day and took a picture to send to me. I have never met any of these people, but feel like they are family. They are special people.
Update: I posted the following review two years ago. Every word holds true to this day. Always delivered on time and always a beautiful, seasonal arrangement. Many thanks to the sweet, kind ladies at Malone Flower Shop.
I was looking for a florist who would accept a standing order to place flowers on my husband's grave on a regular basis, and at a reasonable price. I live in another state and cannot visit often. I chose to call Malone's because of their location, and had no prior knowledge of them, but was hoping they were a neighborhood, family-owned, old fashioned florist, and not some uncaring internet business. I could not have made a better (lucky) choice. I initially spoke with Mary. She could not have been more compassionate and understanding of my needs. Not only were beautiful flowers put on my husband's grave as scheduled, but another employee who placed the flowers actually texted me a picture. (Not sure, but I think her name was Pam. My apologies if not.) She too was wonderful. They have made me feel so much better, knowing that my husband knows that I cherish our memories & our life together. Read moreI cannot recommend Malone Flower Shop enough--I researched and spoke with a number of different local and online florists during the wedding planning process, and was repeatedly advised to scale down my expectations in order to fit within my desired budget. After visiting Malone and meeting with Susan, we were assured that our vision was fully doable and that it could be done within our budget. Susan showed us various options even during our initial meeting, and watching her effortlessly arrange just a few pieces of greenery into something beautiful gave me so much confidence that I could trust her with my vision. Throughout the entire process, Susan was quick to answer any questions I had and was extremely patient even throughout a number of last minute changes and requests. She was able to take the photos that I showed her and make adjustments in order to keep the overall vibe the same, but with flowers that were within our budget. It really felt that Susan was looking out solely for our best interest. On the day of the wedding, Susan popped into the bridal suite to show me my bouquet and my jaw dropped--it was so gorgeous! The entire venue really was made complete by the Malone flowers and the way that they perfectly executed my vision.
