Five Below — Attraction in Cary

I have shopped at many five below stores and have always referred it to friends and family. Today I am questioning my return. First, my incredibly well mannered 11 year old son was looking at one section of the store while I was in another. It’s a small store that you can see from end to end. A very rude store clerk told him he was not allowed to be by himself in the store and had to be with a parent. My son politely said ok and started to walk toward me. He paused to look at something and the store clerk said, “Now! Get to your parent!”. I was speechless. I have never worried about my kids looking around a store without my immediate supervision. They are very well behaved. I have trusted them for years and have NEVER once had any incident. It didn’t end there. We quickly wrapped up our shopping and I went to check out. I was looking through the counter displays and standing by the registers waiting on someone to come to the counter. After 5 or so minutes a lady came over and stood on the other side of the aisle. She tapped a sign and rudely said, “the sign says to wait here for help”. I kept my composure but was over the poor service and left. I love 5 below but this store isn't what it used to be; at least not this location since they've changed it around. It seems like there's less stuff in general - or more of the exact same stuff in different forms. Not fond of the "aisles" rather than the sections, but other than that 5 below in general is great. The staff is extremely nice, the self check outs they put in are helpful, and you can get almost anything you're looking for here; if you can't find it at one store you can usually find it at another & if not, it's definitely on their website. Once you do navigate through the new format of the store you can find a bedroom section with pillows, blankets, curtains, blow up ottomans, posters, decor, etc, a fitness section with everything from small weights, yoga supplies, sauna suits, resistance bands to sports balls. Great gifts here too - journals, cookbooks, wine glasses and coffee cups. Their 5 beyond section is nice as well. It doesn't go mucuh above $10 for...

This use to be my favorite five below until tonight. I got there at 8:50 and I literally was running in to grab something and the doors were already locked! I had to call and ask them why they would lock the doors 10 minutes early. The manager I’m assuming let me in and she was so rude! Then a guy came to the door right behind me and he said he only needed 5 minutes and was so rude to him and told him she didn’t have 5 minutes to give him and locked the door. I have never seen a person working in customer service be so rude. I grabbed the wrong item in being rushed out but I will not be returning to exchange it.
