DeKoevend is a large, multi-use park off University Ave in Centennial. It has several baseball fields, tennis courts, a set of basketball courts, and a playground. Weekday mornings, the fenced in baseball field often doubles as an off leash dog park. There's even a Little Free Library at the park, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Centennial.
The park is bordered by the Highline Canal Trail and an access point to the Big Dry Creek Trail. Both are mostly gravel / packed dirt trails, good for running, walking, biking, and nature watching.
DeKoevend also has terrific facilities for a Denver-area park: several picnic areas, water fountains (including some for dogs), and restrooms with running water. There's a considerable amount of parking around the park, including lots by the Goodson Recreation Center and the South...
Read moreStewardship of this beautiful park is pathetic. At least 3 times in the past 3 years vandals have torn up fences and turf with four wheel drive vehicles in the park. Management has been unable or unwilling to protect my neighborhood park. The fence along the east side of the 'wildlife area' was repaired last month after an incident in the fall and has again been vandalized by 4wheeling idiots along with the turf east of the pavillion. The board who oversees management needs to fire these inept individuals who have surrendered to these 4wheeling vandals. We will remember their response the next time there is an election or vote on...

We usually bring a small cooler and a couple hammocks and set up at a spot along the river. If you head to the river on the far side of the field, theres some spots where it's shaded and shallow with a flat sandy riverbank. If you bring enough snacks and drinks, you can easily make...
