I used to love this store. It was like an REI with much more reasonable prices. It was a great place to shop for our whole family. Today when I walked in I realized it had been transformed into a TJ Maxx. Long racks overstuffed with outdoorsy clothes greet you in the front entrance. No organization, just a random assortment by size. I used to be able to go to a rack and pick a few shirts or pants of the same style but in different colors and sizes to try on. Now I have to wander through the long endless disorganized racks to see if they even have a different color or size available. The shoe department is even worse. You used to be able to try on shoes, and shoes were organized by types with lots of sizes available. Now they are just laying out zipped tired together like a giant clearance rack. Difficult to bring the family here for shoe shopping when you have to wander the isles looking to see if they have a few different sizes of the same style to try on. I loved when they had a customer service desk in the back with a ready staff member to help you. Now there are just a few cashiers who are to busy to help and some employees hiding in the back room. I know they were in the back room because I needed help so I just walked into the employees only area. They were more than happy to ask me if I wanted help when I wandered into the restricted zone, but really didn't want to or couldn't help me. Employees can't help you find merchandise anymore, everything is out on the racks like it is, you just have to search for it (this is what the employee actually told me). I'm so sad that our go to outdoor clothing store is nothing more than a TJ Maxx now. The online store is still ok, but I noticed that the selection and size selection had dwindled, maybe that will be...
Read moreThis was the worst online shopping experience I have ever had. Would give zero stars if I could. They lied to me several times. Cancelling my order because of different billing and shipping address. Even after, duh, I confirmed that while completing my purchase, but then I had to email them after 24 hours of not getting an update of movement. Thatâs when they told me oh we need to to spell out both addresses in their entirety or we will have to cancel the purchase. Well Iâm glad I reached out, thanks for letting me know! Then they canceled it three days later saying my bank wasnât approving the transaction! What?! Called the bank and they said they approved it and it was pending on their end. The biggest thing and that when we called she said that they would ship it out that day. I call three days later, cause nothing had moved passed the shipping label. I called fed ex cause Sierra put the blame on them. Then I had to call back and forth to each place a total of 3 times. They said they shipped it, FED EX CAME TO THEIR WAREHOUSE AND PICKED IT UP. Complete lie. I screen shot that fed ex came to pick it up the next day early in the morning. THEY LIED. They didnât ship it until I called. So I guess they donât do anything about your package/transaction until you call about everything. The most lousy experience. Sierra didnât get to take the blame once....
Read moreI have always enjoyed perusing the Sierra Trading Post catalog and the store doesnât disappoint. This store is like a Ross or Marshalls for outdoor enthusiasts. They have lots of clothes, shoes, backpacks and other outdoor gear. And the prices are really good.
One caution is that the âCompare Atâ price, basically the MSRP is seems to be pretty inflated. There was a ski jacket that theyâre selling for $650, where their compare at price was about $950, but I found it online for cheaper than $650 and nowhere did I see the price elsewhere over $650.
I bought a couple of T-shirts that I figured would fit, but they didnât. Sierra took them back with no questions, so I appreciated that. Then I spent more money at the store that day.
The only other negative is that, as good as the prices are, it is difficult to leave the store without spending more than you planned. Itâs similar to Costco...
