Everything terrific! Our suite was so comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Beds and pillows were great! Our son slept on pull-out sofa, and said it was very comfortable. We asked for housekeeping everyday, and the room was always made up promptly. The shower was nice; good pressure. Two televisions in room, both with streaming capabilities. We watched a movie one night and the picture/sound was very good. Full size appliances. Plates, cutlery, cooking utensils/pots provided. We went in the pool, which was a good temp and very clean. Towels provided and bathrooms/changing facilities at pool. Complementary breakfast provided every morning. Nice options. Although on weekday there were no pancakes or waffles, if that matters to you. Breakfast staff are so nice, and friendly, and will absolutely help you with anything you need! Great coffee! And we were pleasantly surprised to find that everyday we were there (Mon-Thur) they put out some food and cookies and ice tea/lemonade as a sort of "happy hour" of sorts, from 5-7. No liquor, but the food was good, and different every night. Enough that you could eat there and not have to eat dinner later. Again, nice options. The hotel itself is very clean. The dining area is kept free of dishes, etc... Lobby, elevators, halls, etc... all kept nicely. But my main reason for the 5 stars is the staff. I cannot say enough about how professional, friendly and helpful everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - was. Shout out to Tasha, who helped us find a place to get cheesesteaks when my son decided that's what he wanted for lunch one day. She even found a menu for us. The recommendation was spot-on. And there is a little snack shop that also has Delaware gifts. My son bought a very nice shot glass that was only $4.00! We're usually Hampton Inn people, mainly because we know what we're getting there. But the Homewood Suites was the best option for us in Wilmington. I'm so glad we made the choice. This was probably the best stay we've had in a long time. And I found the rate to be not only reasonable, but quite fair, given the service and quality of stay. I'll definitely be seeking out Homewood Suites for our next summer trip!...
Read moreAfter almost two years of being a regular customer, I decided to not come back here, because the customer service doesn’t know how to (or doesn’t want to) handle an issue. It was too warm for me in the room, so I tried to lower the thermostat temperature, but it didn’t go below 70. Then I decided to open the windows to let some fresh air in, but… the windows could open a little bit, but immediately slid shut once released, no way of fixing them in place. The personnel at the front desk tried to be helpful sending different people to look at the issue, but all I got was either no comments or people saying me that it was impossible to keep the windows open, only block them by putting something under the frame. As for the thermostats, the head of maintenance said that the limit was set as 70 in the whole building and there was nothing that could be done. This was confirmed, when the front desk offered me to try a different room, but the thermostat had the same setting there and the windows had the same issues. After my stay was over, I submitted my feedback online and a few hours later received a response from Operations manager Mike Mingis lying me that my thermostat was apparently broken. And when I replied that it was, first, confirmed by the maintenance department that it was intended to be like this, and secondly, that we checked in a different room, he just responded that he was sorry for the inconvenience. So, no changes, no solution is being provided. So, don’t expect that if you feel uncomfortable in your room, you will be...
Read moreThis Homewood looked new or newly renovated and was very clean, and the outdoor area around the pool looked lovely. We would have had a great overnight stay here except for major issues with the air conditioning. We stayed during the hottest week of the summer (thus far anyway), and the room temperature was hovering between 75-80 in spite of us setting it to 70 when we went to bed. We called the front desk and were informed that the thermostat is on a motion sensor and only turns on when movement is detected. I understand wanting to conserve energy, but by design with this setup it's essentially impossible to control the temperature in the room overnight, so depending on the season you could either roast or freeze. The front desk suggested running the ceiling fan on low to activate the motion sensor, but in our room (322) the thermostat was in the living area and the ceiling fan was in the bedroom. We were eventually offered a plug in fan, but after 45 minutes of my husband waiting at the front desk at midnight while the staff looked, there weren't any available. So, my husband got up every 5 minutes between midnight and 2:30 am to activate the thermostat until he got the temperature in our room down to 72 degrees, because we were worried about our baby getting overheated. We appreciate the night staff's effort to help us attempt to find a solution, but due to poor design there was nothing we could do, and we got next to no sleep. If staying here is in your plans, be aware that your room might not have...
