We originally gave 5 stars because delivery (although delayed, went well & my girlfriend said the employees who did the delivery were very nice & made sure to show her a few dents they found when they took it out of the box. They told her she could call & ask Steve, the manager for a price reduction or request a new one, because of the condition & then they went over making payments & a bunch of other information so she was super impressed. The only reason Iām updating this is because they had given my girlfriend a few examples of how the manager had worked with people previously & we unfortunately did not have that experience. We had automatic payments set up & made the 1st 5-8 weeks of payments as scheduled but then I was injured on the job & was off unpaid for several weeks but was waiting to receive a lump sum payment from my short term disability policy @ work so we made them aware of this & each time they talked her info making a lesser payment but it ended up causing confusion & honestly we would have been better off just making the full payment. We had canceled the auto pay but because we did that, it caused the entire payment for the month to show due (past due) & the manager told her if we didnāt make the payment within 3 days they weāre taking the fridge. I completely understand he has a job to do but it felt a little personal because of the examples the employees had given about how he re-wrote policies for customers TWICE because they were so far behind & yet we couldnāt get a little empathy when we werenāt even really a week behind @ the time. We just didnāt fully understand the consequences of canceling the auto pay.
We also had another off-putting experience when our central air broke on the hottest day of the year & we found a promo on Aaronās website so we called & (at this time we hadnāt been a second late on our current agreement) the girl told us that weād have to pay $129 up front, although online said $1 up front. We ended up just buying a new one elsewhere for less than their up front payment. Now Iām sure the air conditioning unit that they had was higher quality but if I were a sales rep who already had a good customer, Iād try to make the sale & they were offering the promo online so maybe they could have offered half down or anything @ all really.
Iād still recommend them if youāre in a bad position & need something you can make payments on & their products are better than āthe competitionā by a long shot.. My last contract is on a recliner sofa, which the manager reminded me please do not return this item because I'd probably be stuck with it. This never worried me because I planned on finishing out the item to own. But things changed and I had no choice but to send it back. My wife is 65 and disabled and the sofa was no longer comfortable for her. I purchased new recliner for her and scheduled Aaron's to pick it up. They started looking it over and found 1 or 2 outside dead bugs and called store manager. He said he determined it to be infested. Don't know how 1 or 2 dead bugs makes it infested. I believe it's their plan to refuse our return of the sofa, same as he stated months earlier. The sofa is in great shape and isn't very old. I never missed a payment. The manager is forcing me to continue paying for the sofa and I've refused. The manager has screwed us over. Because I refused to pay on something I don't want or need, he's trying to force me to pay. Wife and I are senior citizens and he's treating us unfairly. My review is to warn others how they conduct business and don't care about us. My room is full of furniture because they won't pick it up. It's important to know that we live in the country and unfortunately bugs exist and crawl through people's homes. The 1 or 2 bugs found were regular outside type bugs that hurt no one but he quickly said no to picking it up without being on-site. He looked at phone pictures. The manager decided he had a way out of taking it back and forcing us seniors to pay or else. Is this the kind of people you want to deal with?
Important addition to my review. I was contacted by a group at Aaron's who handle reported problems and concerns. I was asked to provide additional information and they would investigate and hopefully resolve our issues. Unfortunately, after a month or more, I never heard another word from them while the Chambersburg Aaron's continue to harass us and force us to pay for something that was supposedly being returned. Please, does anyone have any ideas of how to deal with these kinds of places? Where else can i share my bad experience, somewhere to have the greatest impact to the Chambersburg Aaron's in order to get things resolved? Obviously, no one with Aaron's wants to help us. I'm tired of harassing phone calls to my home, and to friends and family. Showing up at my door. Ā Ā Ā Read moreAarons sales and lease lied numerous times about delivery, requiring one of us to be there to sign the paperwork when delivering. 4 seperated times we were lied to, I had to leave work early and so did my husband (twice). There were even times we were called saying the furniture was on its way, forcing us to call off of work. Due to this situation my family, who is on a budget, lost out on close to $600 in finances. There were so many excuses they had, even a story of how a truck went out yet returned immediately and sat at the store. No one contacted us to tell us this so we sat here like idiots waiting. The people are very rude and disrepectful and have lied so many times. I will never recommend this place at all to anyone, they are a bunch of con artist who like to bully and threaten their customers. Even after you call them to tell them when you are making a payment they mysteriously do not note it in the system and still call you several times. This store is so pathetically disorganized and can never keep a story straight. FYI, manager admitted they do not do drug testing and possibly no background checks. Beware that you may have a drug addict in your home! I have been in contact with a lawyer and magistrate the past 2 months now and am completely ready to take this to the next level.
