My daughter, with natural hair, scheduled an appointment for a hair cut and left disappointed that her "stylist" failed to cut her hair evenly, straighten it or style it. She had been there before so they have notes on her hair (or so I assumed). She showed the stylist a picture and he confirmed he could do it. She expressed her displeasure after the service and was told to call after a few days if she still didn't like it. He thought she needed time to adjust to a short cut. When I saw the cut I was disappointed that a professional would send any client home with an uneven, unstyled cut. My daughter called the next day to schedule an appointment for repair. Her appointment was rescheduled for Sunday @11:30 with a different stylist. When she arrived she was told they didn't have time to do a wash, blowout and cut and would need to reschedule her for Monday morning. Unacceptable since she has school and senior pictures. My daughter came home in tears feeling ugly. I drove to the salon to resolve the issue with management. Management was not available so the very cordial and professional receptionist contacted the owner, educator, and store manager via text. It took an hour for someone to contact her with a response. A senior stylist agreed to come in on her day off to repair my daughter's hair. We were told to expect an hour wait (we only waited a little over 30 minutes). The stylist was friendly and engaging and took her time reviewing my daughter's hair and discussing her plan. My daughter was relieved! Three of my daughters and myself have used various stylist from Dolce Lusso in the past with varying degrees of satisfaction. My natural hair is easier to manage than my daughters' and blows out straight so I don't have an issue with my stylist. I will continue with my stylist but my daughters will not (unless the senior stylist can work some magic and salvage the disasterous first cut). I'll write another review specific to that experience. Not all stylists have the same competencies with different hair types so it would be helpful and professional for the salon to match clients with the most appropriate stylists who have experience and skill in managing particular hair types or styles. It's okay for stylists to have different specialties and to stick with what they know best (no complaints of ethnic discrimination here...this client would appreciate the experience). It should be a standard of practice to provide the best experience for everyone with highly qualified, appropriately matched stylists. If you advertise that you can accommodate all clientele then make sure you do so. High standards need to...
Read moreI just moved from Michigan 4 weeks ago. Decided to give this place a shot because of all the great reviews and need a new stylist because of my move. I called and specifically asked for someone who has a lot of experience with short hair. Price was never even a topic. They scheduled me in for the next day. The night before, I took my time picking out pictures of the hair cut I want and is its very close to the cut I already have, just about 4 weeks grown out so I needed just a trim. The girl I had did not seem to really care about the pictures. Fair enough, I figured she understood me when I told her what I verbally wanted. She kept cutting and cutting. It was probably the most awkward feeling I had during a cut because the 30 mins she took, she barely said two words. I was quiet too because I was nervous being in a new place for the first time. I left the salon with a MANS haircut and you can see my skin on the sides its soo short and not to mention uneven. When I left I was so embarrassed to drive home. I got home and tried to make sense of what hair I had left to no avail. 1 star is probably fair considering the girls at the front were very nice, but otherwise my experience was extremely disappointing. Even everyone in my family that saw my hair can not believe how terrible it looks. I have had about 3 or 4 friends and family say that Great Clips or THEY themselves could have done a better job...and the girl I had has been at this salon for over 2 years. Thank GOD hair grows but for the next 4 plus weeks I will be a ball cap because I am so embarrassed of how manly it looks. My advice.....DO NOT go to this salon if you want any kind of short hair cut or anything more than a trim for long hair. I can not speak to their other services such as hair coloring and nails, only the hair cut. Terrible and extremely disappointing considering the prices reflect that you have quality hair professionals that someone new to the area, like myself, trust because of the price base and the store has nice...
Read moreI just moved to Charlotte maybe a year ago and my first time I had been to this salon was a couple months ago for an all over color, or in salon terms “single process” so I had asked to be with an intermediate/advanced hair stylist that knows what they’re doing with color because I am very particular when it comes to my hair. It’s a simple color, Brown color all I needed was a refresh on it to look fresh. I go in and it takes the girl 15 minutes to come to me. Not only that but when she started the application, she started applying it MIDSHAFT TO END. First of all an all over color “SP” is applied roots to ends or new growth to ends. So my first initial thought was “Oh maybe she’s going to mix some more color and apply it to the the rest of my hair” but she never came back until I the color she has applied had already processed... by this time I was upset. My mom was with me at the time who has managed a salon for 14 years at a very high end one, and has never seen some apply an all over color that way. When hair color fades I would have two different colors from my roots/midshaft.. So we discussed with the girl that we were not happy and at that point I had just gone to check out without my hair even blow dried. The front desk girl had told me that she could put me in with a senior stylist and I told her please. We come back the day it was scheduled and they said that they were so sorry they couldn’t accommodate me because the stylist was “overbooked?”. 1. Why would you schedule me with a stylist that is over booked? 2. Why wouldn’t someone call me before I wasted time out of my day to drive to you guys? 3. Why does it seem like there is always no manager around?!
So I thought I would give them a second shot with just getting a shampoo blow dry a week ago.. with another stylist. I come in that day and there was another issue with my appointment. At that point I walked out of the door. This is a poor establishment. Will no longer come back here for...
