So I went to this GameStop location to reserved a game and this was my first time visiting this location. During my first visit I reserved two games for my PS5 after being informed about one of them that sparked my interest by the heavy set female employee who I was impressed with for the knowledge that she had for the games I had interest in. The two games that I reserved for my PS5 were scheduled to come out on two separate days and after making the reservation, I was so pleased with the service that I said to myself that I was going to make this location my GameStop home because all GameStop locations aren't the same and the service that I received on this day was great. It was during my second visit when it was time to pick up one of my reserved copies was when my view of what I thought was a great store started to change. I became extremely frustrated after asking one of the 3 employees if an exception could be made for me to skip the line that was wrapped around the building with people in line waiting to purchase Pokémon cards for all I wanted to do was pick up my reserved game.
I was told, "No", and had to wait in line for an hour just to pick up one thing. It didn't make sense to me of why two separate lines couldn't have been made to accommodate those that were there for things other than for Pokemon cards. Once inside of the store two out of the three employees were standing around talking doing absolutely nothing which inflamed me even more. When I had asked the question to skip the line at the time, one employee was standing by the door, the other walking back and forth to the back, and the last one behind the register. I pick up my reserved copy and then finally left.
Prior to me returning to this location for my third visit to pick up my final reserved copy, I received a call from the store the day prior informing me that my copy was in and that I had 48 hours to pick it up. I expressed my frustration with the person over the phone about waiting in line to pick my one item and inquired about how to avoid running into the same problem. He in turn of course instructed me to come later in the day to have a better outcome. Following his instructions, I returned to the store for my third time and I was so thrilled that there wasn't a line causing me to breathe a sigh of relief and I was excited about picking my game. When I walked in, my bubble was busted when I was greeted by the grinch that stole Christmas who greeted me with a, "Can I help you", but in a tone as if I was bothering her.
This was a female that I haven't ever seen before in the store standing about 5'9, dark skinned with shoulder length dreads, medium build, with no name tag, and dressed in all black. I wanted to ask if she was having a bad day, but her energy was so unwelcoming I didn't have the energy of wanting to go back and forth. She wasn't rude but wasn't providing the best customer service experience either, so I continued with my purchase and left feeling like a kid who just asked his mother to go to McDonald's after seeing the Golden Arches and was told "No", because we have food at home. Although I was happy to get what I came for, I left the store feeling some type of way. With that said, I guess all GameStops are the same because I've yet found one to show consistently with valuing...
Read moreI have been to this location 2x in the last 3 weeks. First I was looking for a particular Skylander that most Gamestop locations had received that Wednesday. I was there 2 days later and there was a big pile of boxes behind the register area unopened, un-processed. The person at the counter - although there was 1 other customer in the store and no rush at all, made it known that there was no chance he would look in the boxes until the following week, and somehow made me feel as if that would be doing me a favor. Let me contrast this with WALMART, and ToysRUs, where they gladly opened just-arrived boxes when I was looking for the same Skylander. Interesting : MUCH better service at a 'big-box'.
I visited again today and the same man was working the counter, although I did not catch his name. I was there for Bioshock Infinite. There was a woman in front of me and he kept both of us waiting while trying to up-sell her on reserving 2 games, giving detailed game descriptions, before checking out her purchase. Then it was my turn. While he had no less than 30 copies of the game behind the counter, and the typical empty boxes out on a display indicating the game for general sale, he insisted they were all reserved copies and he had to keep them in case all 30 people showed up tonight. But he would have more tomorrow and he could do me the favor of selling me a game at full price tomorrow. I worked in customer service and sales for years, and this is called 'brooming a customer'. This person truly enjoys doing it. So I went to Target and bought the game. I had been planning on getting the Gamestop membership today as well because I will be buying the new Skylanders game and other games when the XBOX 720 comes out, and oh yeah, an XBOX 720. I really see no reason...
Read moreI rarely go to this store but since it's close to my house and I needed some cash I figured I'd sell my 3DS XL.
I went up there to the store at about 8PM or so. I spoke with a black guy (I don't know his name) who was wearing an orange shirt, orange watch and a necklace. I told him I wanted to trade in my 3DS but the screen was cracked. He asked to see it, looked it over and asked for the charger and stylus. I didn't have those items on me but I asked him how much he would give me for the system if I brought everything back.
He said 45 bucks (ripoff, but w/e). I told him I would be back with the other items and he said alright.
So I drive back down WT Harris trying to get back to the store before it closes, grab a charger and stylus and cart everything back to the store. When I get there the black guy is gone and I have to speak with a white woman with black hair. I don't know her name but she seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem..but w/e.
I told her I was just in the store about 30 minutes ago and the guy who serviced me before said if I brought the stylus back with the charger he'd give me 45 bucks. The chick looks at the 3DS and says she can't do it. Then some guy chimes in and echos the same thing. I once again tell them that I was told the trade could take place if I just brought back the accessories. They didn't seem to care and just...
