Edit 2: The manager of the property Evelyn called me after my stay (and after I had filled out a survey about my stay for Choice Hotels with negative response). She asked more questions about my experience and apologized sincerely for the poor quality of my stay. She insisted that a staff member should have alerted her after the hiccup at check-in and that she will make sure this is a learning opportunity for the staff. She also credited my Choice Hotels account with 5,000 pts, which is a tiny bit less than what I would have been credited for booking my stay through CH instead of having to pay it at the desk because of the cancellation. She said if I am ever back in town to please contact her (and left me her number) so she can try to show me why the hotel is worth another try. This doesn't address the cleanliness issues though and I'm not sure I'll go.
Edit: the owner responded to this review with the same generic and bland response and promises to review these issues - dude, these bad reviews have been happening for months talking about the same issues, so maybe it's time to actually do something instead of just review!
I've stayed at some bad places, but when another user said it's a motel experience at a hotel price ($90-100 per night!!) I should have believed them. Don't fall for it!!! Staying here has been an extremely frustrating experience for me and I won't come back.
I didn't want to stay here after I arrived. They had cancelled my reservation despite me calling to confirm it just hours before. But with all the flight cancellations putting people into the hotels that day I just needed to make sure I had a place to sleep for my week long trip, so I bit the bullet and paid it again. Now I'll have to fight to get the original booking refunded (third party).
The hotel reeks of weed and mildew, with a thick layer of air freshener on top. (My room strangely reeks of pickles?) Come on man, everyone knows adding air freshener doesn't hide anything.
It doesn't feel clean. The walls are stained, the blanket is stained, the ceiling is stained. The carpet needs a good vacuuming. There's weird black, sticky smears on and inside the safe. The shower hinges are rusty and the soap dish is gross. Everything is just...grubby.
The stuff in the room is not in good condition. One of the bedside lamps doesn't work, and the drawer in the nightstand doesn't close. There are burn holes in my blanket and curtains. The windows aren't just foggy because of the A/C - there's some kind of permanent haze that's patchy. The hair dryer is coming out of the wall and the iron has pieces missing and didn't work so I had to ask for another one.
There's bugs trapped in the plastic around the window that look suspiciously like roaches or bedbugs, which means I tore the room apart to be sure. Thankfully there are not currently any other signs of bugs in the room, but taking the linens off the bed revealed a heavily stained mattress (gross!!)
It's hard to sleep here because it's so loud! I haven't gotten more than 4 hours of sleep on any night so far due to noise. Guests are literally yelling and shrieking up and down the hallways until 1am and slamming their doors. People in the parking lot blasting music late at night. My first day here two ladies had a screaming fight in the hallway for 4 hours, no intervention from the front desk, nothing.
Breakfast wasn't bad per say but there's no eggs or meats or fruits, just bread/muffins, cereal, yogurt, and the waffle maker. Also includes apple and orange juice. Oh and the random people who wandered in from outside (there's a few businesses that share the parking lot) and sat down at my table to harass me. I don't feel safe going to have breakfast anymore.
The hotel gets two stars only because the linens are clean enough for me to sleep on, the shower is hot, and, aside from cancelling my room, the staff have been helpful and timely. They've been polite when I've passed the desk, and when I needed some shampoo or the iron they got it...
Read moreWhen I arrived, The guy at the front desk was very nice. He seemed as if he was still in training bc he was asking for help from the female co worker but he did a great job he got me right on through and gave me my room key. We (Myself and my 3 kids) got to our door which stood a guy standing in the hall right next to the room we were assigned. That was already a wary feeling and ON TOP of that, the door was unlocked/opened I didn’t even use my key I just pushed it and it came right on open. Then when we got inside the door the hatch lock that secured the room door was broken. Right then and there I wanted to leave but I had already paid and just didn’t feel like going through the headache and extra stress of finding another vacant hotel, waiting on a refund, etc… So I stayed to make things easier. I went downstairs and let the front desk clerk (it was the female coworker this time) know that I didn’t feel safe in the room assigned bc of the broken hatch to secure the door. I was letting her know that I’m a mom and I was traveling with kids & my youngest one is autistic. I told her i just want a different room to feel safe. She rolled her eyes and walked with me the room to look at the door. She said “Look! it still locks.” Completely ignored the fact that she could’ve do something to make the situation better for me. She finally said, “I’ll change your room but I’m not putting you on another floor.” And she assigned me a room one door down! No matter how scary things look to her she never moved me or made me feel like she cared. The whole stay I didn’t feel comfortable there. I was on point the entire stay, I barely rest. I stayed out doing activities with my kids because I didn’t really like the hotel. Anyway, It was in a good area not too far from anything. It’s just a cheap 2 star hotel in a good area, Id book a different hotel. This is where you book as the...
Read moreThe woman at the front desk was really nice and helpful, even when there were a bunch of us who were tired and cranky, sent from American Airlines with vouchers because we had our flights rebooked.
Some stains here and there in corners but that didn't bother me. But the rooms are not very well cleaned overall, there was something (hair? A bug?) on the wall, and something that was either chicken or a bug left near the toilet. I attached pictures because I didn't want to touch them to investigate that closely lol.
Also there was a stinkbug in the room that I trapped in a cup and then drowned in the toilet. Video attached. I saw another review on here that mentioned those, I'm wondering if they have a stinkbugs issue.
No roaches or bed bugs though! At least not that I noticed. I checked the mattress, and I didn't get bitten.
Also, the sheets were definitely washed. A little stained, but not a lot, and they were definitely cleaned. Also the sheets and comforter were actually super fluffy and comfy -- I wish I checked the brand so I could buy some myself. I sleep in a lot of different hotel rooms for work (usually like holiday inns or Marriotts) and the sheets were noticeably nice!
The mattress cover looked kinda gross though, I don't think they clean that often. But the mattress topper and the sheets were good.
The rooms themselves looked old. Which is understandable, not an issue to me.
The shampoo they gave was drying (normal, just wanted to give a heads up to those who care about that) but the hand soaps were cute!! They're leaf shaped :) pic attached.
Breakfast was fine. No omelettes or anything, just like bananas and yogurt and muffins, oatmeal, that type of stuff. Decent coffee.
Overall I probably would pick somewhere nicer to stay and I felt a little uncomfortable with the level of cleanliness, but it's...
