I booked here because I needed a full service salon to help me get ready for a wedding on Halloween night. I originally booked nails & makeup application. Margaret was my nail tech & she started off by showing me around the salon. We ended up talking so much that I went over my apt times. She was great & my nails turned out perfect. She's probably the only reason I would return here. Also, if there's a specific color you want you’ll be better off buying it & bringing it in, they don't have the vast color selection you find in salons that just do nails.
The employees here are tasked with multiple services, & so the esthetician Swarna was assigned to do my makeup. Since this was a formal evening wedding I wanted a dark navy blue smoky eye & I showed her some pictures of the look. She was very nice & was excited to use their new featured eyeshadows which included a dark blue. She put it on & it was not at all a smoky eye, she had used the blue to do an outer v, with a really light color on the rest of my eyelid. My complexion is very fair & the style made my face look washed out. I told her a few times that I wanted it darker & needed liner, but it appeared that she only knew how to do the one look. Despite my feedback she never got any closer to the look I had originally shown her.
I own a dark navy blue shadow so I just told her it was fine & to go forward with applying false lashes as it was already getting late & I could touch it up myself at home. I've had my makeup done at a lot of makeup counters- ULTA, Sephora, MAC etc. & I've never experienced the level of difficulty that she showed in trying to get these lashes on me. To start, when she put them on, there was so much glue that the lashes actually stuck to my face & I couldn't open my eyes. She kept telling me it was normal, but I'm more than aware it's not. She had to pry the stuck lashes away from my eye which severely irritated my eyes & caused them to water like crazy. She must have not aligned them correctly because she had to take them off & reposition them. She then applied even more glue to try to get them to stick & so there we were again with the lashes stuck to my face & I couldn't open my eyes. Even after getting my eyes open I could tell the lashes weren't on right, they went too far down in my line of vision and only one actually stayed put. It was so bad I told her to just take them off.
Because of how bad my eyes had watered she had to apply more foundation to cover up the tear streaks. By this point I just really wanted to hurry up and get out of there. I didn't want to tell her how much I hated the makeup because I knew that she wasn't going to be able to fix it how I wanted & I was really short on time. After getting back in my car I noticed that she had left all the lash glue under my eye & then covered it with foundation. If you can imagine, it looked absolutely horrible. Thick glue globs with foundation pasted on top. Nobody with any integrity in their work would have let me walk out of there with makeup that bad, especially since I was going to a wedding! It stung that I paid $30 for it. I sped over to the ULTA in Stonecrest & they sat me down immediately & completely redid my makeup in the 20 minutes I had to spare for FREE, including putting on lashes perfectly the first time- no watery eyes & no lashes stuck to my face. They tried their best to get the glue off but it was already dried so they focused on what they could finish in my short time. Once home, I used tweezers to scratch at the glue & grab bits to pull off. Even doing that it still didn't come all the way off until the next morning when I scrubbed with a washcloth. I chose a salon to do my makeup because I wanted a stress free day, they definitely failed. I would 110% not recommend this salon for any special occasion makeup.
TLDR: Went here for mani/pedi & makeup application. Nails done perfectly, makeup was absolutely awful, if I went back I wouldn't even take them up on their offer for a complimentary...
Read moreI have been getting my hair cut/colored at Aveda Salons for the past 15+ years, all in which consisted of nothing short of high-quality haircuts/colors.
My most recent haircut was with Elise at Harmony Salon in Charlotte, North Carolina.
I receive complements on my hair every day. I wash, condition, towel dry, and brush my hair anytime between 10am and bedtime each day. The following morning, I run a brush through it and I’m good to go.
Everyone in the past that has cut my hair has done well, however I have always been told that my hair is too flat for much layering without styling.
I asked what Elise thought about layering my hair in 2021, and she thought it was a great idea.
Currently, my hair looks styled every day and all I do is towel dry and brush it the day before, then brush it morning of.
I would also like to applaud the relaxing and personable environment I experienced, as well as the ease of communication with my most recent stylist, Elise, at Harmony Salon at Blakeney—Charlotte, North Carolina.
100+% Thank you!
I will be showing pictures of my most recent haircut to the hair stylist/artist I find here in my new home in...
Read moreI would not personally recommend this hair salon to others. I found them not able to guide and match new customers with the appropriate stylists/colorists. The more mature woman at the front desk appeared to actually enjoy stirring things up a bit, when I had merely stated that making a switch after having my stylist/colorist for for 20 years, was difficult to do just like switching doctors or dentists. You are unsure of the outcome and the match and need guidance when finding a new one. I expressed that I had been there years ago when my stylist/colorist traveled and was away for an extended period of time, but was not real pleased with who I had been referred to. I shared how it is important to have the right one so that everything comes out the way that you want as your face/hair is what everyone sees. She then zipped back to get the "General Manager?", who came out and then proceeded to lie about a previous conversation we had over the phone(?). No......I am sorry but customer service is really hurting at this salon, and there is an obvious need for...
