After this review, I called to cancel my next appt. When I gave my name the owner got pretty hostile with me at first, defending her business. They rose her voice at me for "damaging" its reputation and after I started crying they offered an appt to review what had gone wrong and potentially offer a complimentary service to resolve any issues. They didn't have all the facts 100% and told me this had been relayed to me already, but as you can see the screenshot attached to this review, one owner told me she'd tell me the "cost" of any recs if I come in, so the owner on the phone was incorrect about that. This was the reason for me writing this review as at that point, to me, they were not willing to work with me at all.
Needless to say I've decided to not accept their offer, but they at least offered some form of resolution after raising their voice at me, accusing me of "getting my family to leave a bad review" when that fam member helped pay for my appt, all while HUE has their own people asking their friends to leave positive reviews when they hadn't gotten any services done here, either. Seems it's only okay if it's a 5/5 review. I cannot control other people's reviews.
They tried to resolve it, which is why it's a 2star review. I appreciate it but felt it was too late. I don't feel comfortable returning to the salon. $375 spent on my hair, the color was just washed out (despite using high-quality products and knowing my hair history), with no partial refund or complimentary fix. Customer service was poor and no apology was given. Also, save your money on fusion treatments it did nothing for my hair.
I went to Hue Salon for a consult on 0511, signed a form BEFORE (i believe) my appt. After paying a non-refundable deposit, I returned on 0525 for my hair appt. The form is attached. I showed my stylist a picture emphasizing reducing orange hues and matching the dark parts of my hair, so I was ready to go semi brunette. She changed colors and went lighter than planned. I went along said I wanted to go as dark as possible to cover everything.
The haircut was nice, but the color was incorrect. After leaving and seeing my hair in natural light, I saw the color was off but decided to wait until our next appt in 8weeks as I was told it would hold. After washing with cold bottled water and color-safe products, the color faded, leaving uneven tones. I contacted the salon, and they scheduled a fix. It was difficult to set up; they said they'd talk to my stylist and get back to me, but they didn't. I called the next day, and they told me I'd have to wait 2days for them to talk to my stylist because she "left early." I had to message her directly, but she finally gave me an appt.
That appointment ended up being 2weeks after my initial appointment (0607) I was surprised at the lack of customer service here for what I felt was like an error on their end after the stylist said we should have gone darker, but when I returned, I was charged more $. I had not been quoted a $ when making this appointment or before the service was done. The color was still incorrect and looked the same after the 1. appt, so I contacted the owner. I suggested payment but since there was no follow-up and the stylist said we'd needed to go darker, I assumed it was acknowledged that a fix was needed due to her going too light after deciding on a new plan.
One wash later the color stripped again. I reached out again to the owner, who offered to "tell me how much it would cost $ to fix my hair." after I'd come in there twice in hopes to fix my hair.
They said they don't offer refunds or fixes per the form, but neither of those things are addressed. It only says further alterations or corrections will cost the client $.
After that 2nd application, they just smiled and said, "Hopefully, this doesn't become a weekly thing,"
I understand "money in, money out" but I'm surprised at the way I was treated. There's no goodwill to rectify this situation. Color corrections can be tricky but felt like the solution proposed should have been...
Read moreI was a loyal customer at this salon for nearly a year and a half, visiting every six weeks for various services. I always arrived on time, tipped generously (20%), and although Iâm particular, I upheld reasonable expectations while being kind and respectful. While the staff were generally pleasant, several business practices left me feeling frustrated.
Persistent Upselling and Pricing Issues â On multiple occasions, the salon added their Fusio Dose conditioning treatment ($30) to my ticket without consulting me. One time, an assistant began applying it at the wash station without my consent, insisting it was already on my service ticket. Despite my refusal, she proceeded, and I was charged for itâthough I later called and secured a refund. Additionally, service/pricing inaccuracies occurred at least once or twice due to having multiple staff members involved in the appointment (stylist, assistant, and reception). On my most recent visit, an extra charge was added for additional color that was used, despite my hair being on the thinner side and above shoulder-length.
Inconsistent Experience Due to Training Environment â As a training salon, less-experienced assistants often worked alongside my stylist (and on their own for the second half of the appt.) and often seemed unpreparedâboth in terms of technical skill and customer service.
Limited Styling Options Without Additional Charges â While the salon provided a standard blowout, any curling required an extra charge. Given that services often totaled between $200â$400 (plus tip), I would have appreciated the option to leave feeling fully styled. The time spent using a round brush to smooth and curl my hair seemed less efficient than quickly blow-drying and curling.
Despite these concerns, I continued visiting the salon due to my appreciation for my stylistâs work and the difficulty of finding a new one. However, my final appointment sealed my decision to move on. After receiving a smoothing treatment at another salon a few weeks prior, my color turned out much darker and cooler toned than usual. Despite informing my stylist that my hair might process differently, she did not take any extra care such as checking on my color/foils while I processed, or when the assistant added my toner. While I understand that color can be complexâespecially after external treatmentsâthere was little effort to collaborate on adjustments after we saw the results. When I followed up two days later (after researching more on the smoothing treatment and aftercare), she wasnât willing to make any tweaks to my hair and did not offer a meaningful solution. I also expressed dissatisfaction in the placement of my highlights as I wanted a balayage look, but she insisted that it was given.
Ultimately, after spending $400 (plus tip) on my final appointment, I was left very disappointed. I am now searching for a salon that prioritizes customer care and ensures a more...
Read moreI was the cautionary tale you read about online :( I showed up for my first appt with a tall order for Kendall. I needed a miracle literally. my hair was DESTROYED from another stylists work (mind you she had 50k followers on instagram and was super popular for her work) and my hair was going to quiet literally snap off my head. what was so upsetting too, is this other stylist kept unnecessarily and recklessly doing chemical treatments on my touch ups and never once mentioned to me any concern about my hair health and proceeded to charge me $700 for âtouch upsâ. as a client, youâd hope to be able to trust your stylist to be transparent about your hair health and not just destroy your hair and not tell you âhey maybe we should adjust our game plan to get you to where you want to be and still preserve the health of your hairâ
what i really appreciate about Kendall is when i came to her and she sat me down, she told me exactly the reality of the current state of my hair, an action plan to get it to where I wanted it to be in a healthy way, and products i could use at home to continue to restore the health of my hair between visits. she just does such quality work every time i see her and i constantly am asked who does my hair.
also just all of the girls in the salon are so down to earth. the hospitality and the environment is so safe and comfortable to be in. they always offer coffee or tea when you come which is such a nice touch.
i cannot recommend this place enough, specifically Kendall. Iâd give this girl my first born lol. I trust her with my life (which is basically how important my...
