I was out on leave with my family and stumbled over this gem.. it was pretty late and with two toddlers I couldn't imagine anyone helping us.. my daughters beautiful curls were in a huge knot my son won't allow anyone near his ears and I was just beat after the day I had.. Josalyn was the only stylist free and she saw my face and knew instantly I was in need of help.. first she tackled my daughters locks and man I felt terrible for them both.. a five year old girl who's never seen a professional before and for the stylist who had to deal with the mess.. but Josalyn laughed with her made her comfortable showed her how to properly comb her hair and even gave me a few pointers on dos and donts my child hopped off of her chair with the biggest smiles she gave her once beautiful curls life again. Then it was time for the monster of the bunch.. my son has an issue with anything touching his ears let alone coming close to them.. I still don't know how she did it from squatting down to playing with him relating to him and just distracting him with cartoons conversations She was able to give him by far one of the best haircuts I've seen done on a three year old.
As a parent we know it's fustrating having a kid who won't stay still.. complaining every stran of hair that falls "itches" and how tired and bored they are.. but with children you need to take time and truly love what you do..
I knew it was late and I was asking for A lot but Josalyn showed no bother she had a joy in her eyes she was kind she was loving and most importantly her passion behind her work was noticeable.
Living far away makes it challenging to stick with a stylist you build a connection with but that doesn't stop us.. more frequent trips to charlotte was always a topic of conversation but never fully committed to until we were introduced to her.
Thank you Josalyn I know I say this to you everytime we stop by to see you but you are amazing in what you do my daughter and my son rave about you all the time..
See you in...
Read moreWhen I visited last week the stylist used poor sanitation practices for her clippers, comb, and scissors! This has resulted in me getting a skin infection on my face that surfaced the next morning after my hair cut and beard trim. I paid 54$ for my haircut and bought $45 worth of products. I thought it was odd she didn’t wash her hand between clients and when finished with her clipper attachments or tools didn’t clean them before putting them away. I know she didn’t clean them after each client because I saw her finish the previous client and not two minutes later I was in the chair. I will go to great clips for a $15 hair cut where basic cleaning is followed. This can’t be up to board of cosmetology standards. Would not recommend. Please review your cleanliness practices before others get skin infection. I went to urgent care and they confirmed the link to the infection from the beard trim/hair cut. I have went to an old fashioned barber shop and paid $7 and felt better about the cleanliness.
I sent an email response to your survey you sent me the following day. Your manager reached out to me via email and I expressed my concerns. She informed me your company policy is to not offer refunds. There was no disinfection or cleaning of capes, chair, or barber tools between patrons. This is against board of cosmetology standards. You are mistaken that she had multiple sets of cleaning tools- I was sitting in the waiting are adjacent her workstation and saw that she didn't change out the tools she just brushed them off with...
Read moreBeen coming here for about a year. Always get my cut from Joselyn. She is the best. Knows exactly what I want and always looks great. I used to go to cheaper places but they would always mess my cut up and was looking for a place where the stylists are professionals. This is a classy place and they do it right. Ask for Joselyn she knows here stuff.
I wrote the above last year. Since posting this my past two stylists Joselyn and then Ashley have both been let go. Both were great stylists in my opinion and I kept coming back. I got a call last week to reschedule my upcoming appointment with Ashley because she was let go. I kept the appointment and received a good cut from the new stylist who told me she was the manager at a Great Clips until a week ago.
My issue is the lack of continuity. Breaking in a new stylist who understands how you like your cut takes time. I stopped going to places like Great Clips because of the poor quality and lack of continuity and was willing to pay more at Shear Excellence for that next level.
It reflects poorly on the ownership/management to have gone thru two perfectly good stylists in my opinion who always have done a great job and even recommended in my previous post. It makes me worry they lack stability and if I should start looking for a new place before I call for a cut someday in the future and find out they're closed up.
I liked my cut today so I'm willing to keep coming for now but my hopes aren't high this place will last much longer at least...
