Favorite store in the Chicago loop. Incredible architecture inside and outside. Watch for the details. Especially the first floor and the 7th floor. Walk around and enjoy the building.then shop. 7th floor has a museum like area. November and December it's filled with holiday decorations. Smaller food court on the 7th floor. Starbucks in the lower level below the first floor. Walnut Room restaurant is amazing and serve delicious food. Yes check on reservations when you're planning your next visit. Frango chocolate is their signature chocolate although no longer made on that floor. Go to cosmetics and look up. Yes look up. Tiffany ceiling with over million pieces of glass, mother of pearl and the like. Then take elevator or escalators to the 4th and 5th floor ladies department to see it up closer. Fabulous store. You should find a great purchase for you or loved one.go to costume jewelry or lower level ladies department for a piece of fashion to add to your closet. Enjoy. Take a photo under the Clock outside as well as the Image ..under the Clock ... In the men's department. Take the photos. Have fun

Career was solid retail in Wisconsin and Illinois. For that reason I throughly enjoyed the history of the Marshal Field company. Macy's placed a wall and antique clothes represented back to mid 1800's. The presentation is adjacent to the Christmas Shop on the 2nd floor. Shopped yesterday and found what I needed. Many pieces were 1/2 off. Ornaments were 70 % off already. There's a line in that department. The Walnut room shares its annual tree visit. All chair and tables have been removed. There are adequate associates on the first floor. Most levels an associate is hard to find. The building is a landmark and if you never visited, you'd be in for a treat. The 8-9 floors are designed around a Tiffany dome on top. Nice that Macy's sells Field's chocolate yet. Many bathrooms, all restaurants and fast food is closed. Handicap Accessible. Don't forget to see the Macy's State Street windows. This shopping district is named "The Loop". Have fun.

If you like unorganized confusion with merchandise and love wasting time looking for items advertised for sale online at the store..walk through Macy's doors...good luck finding those items. And don't even think of asking a clerk for assistance finding that item...they will point you in some direction away from them. And please don't try to create small talk like "Happy New Year"....they are not happy starting the year while still working in that hot mess. Now I see why brick and mortars are going out of business.

Maybe the sales person was just having a bad day....maybe I was asking for too much....fyi I did find the item I was looking for after nearly an hour of unassisted effort.

....But once I did find the item that was advertised online I had to show the salesperson the correct price of the item that was clearly marked on the clothes rack as 50% off....For the time I wasted I could have just paid the extra 10 bux that it would have cost to have it shipped directly from the manufacturer's website.

I am only righting this review because the salesperson was so horrible at being a salesperson and to remind me to limit interaction with unhappy sales associates that wants to ruin money spending experiences when I was only there to spend money with Macy's.

If you don't like shopping in chaotic unorganized messes and being neglected with assistance the Macy's is a perfect hot mess to waste valuable time in shopping for "clothes"

Happy New Year's unhappy sales associates and happy...

The historical, wonder, majesty, and lore of the Marshall Field & Co.Building. The winter wonderland engulfs you as you enter the store...it does not matter which door you choose. The red carpet makes everyone feel like a valued customer. I know it makes me feel that way. The display teams at MF&Co/ Macy's completely knock it out of the park, and kudos to them! The elegance they bring throughout the store is unmatched, for what other major department store does downtown Chicago have on State Street? This is it, folks, so appreciate it, and support it. But, during this season, the Crown Jewel for me is...The Walnut Room. Hands down. The ambiance, the history, the vast panorama of the window seating...and of course, The Christmas Tree. Dining here takes your troubles away, and the Princess Fairies help to make your dreams come true. Get here. Bring someone you love with you. Be patient, be kind, and the servers and hostesses will take such good care of you, and remember to commemorate it with a holiday photo by the tree. I love it. Online shopping is convenient, but in store shopping at this location is very personal and memory making. I choose the latter. Happy Holidays Macy's! You've done extraordinarily well carrying the legacy of your predecessor, Marshall Field & Co., and also making...
