One of the most beautiful views of the lake with the skyline in the background. If you have never seen this, no matter where you live, ..go take a look. You will not be disappointed.... .....Also & MOST IMPORTANT...YES,MOST IMPORTANT...IF you get to Milton Lee Olive Park, you probably took Lake Shore Drive to get there..This highway, Lake Shore Drive runs from far north of downtown, (8 miles north of down town, to 7 miles south of downtown...Yes it is a total of maybe 18 miles in total.. to south 67st, to north Ridge Ave..So IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE INCREDIBLE LAKEFRONT OF CHICAGO RIDE THE ENTIRE DISTANCE FROM 67 ST ON SOUTH, TO THE END OF LAKE SHORE DRIVE ON THE NORTH..(5900 NORTH).. tHAT WILL TAKE AN HOUR TO AN HOUR AND HALF..(maybe less, maybe more).. To drive the entire lakefront (from North to South. maybe long, but you will see parks, and more parks, and beautiful backgrounds and views of the lake you would not see otherwise. Is that worth it?...It will give you a feeling about Chicago on the Lake that is otherwise difficult to explain and feel..... ......If crowded it may take 2 hours..maybe more & maybe less......But you will see why there is a Chicago and why the lakefront is so important to the city and its history.. entire lakefront is so important...

The park boasts my single favorite view of the city skyline from the lakeside. There is ample greenspace to lay out on and park benches to take in the scenery. Bikers, joggers, and roller bladers routinely pop in and out of the park as part of their trails. Feel free to bring your dog for a game of catch or just to enjoy some fresh air!
Of course, no mention of the park would be complete without a nod to the brave young man who gave his life in Vietnam over 40 years ago, earning the Medal of Honor. I encourage everyone who visits the park to take 5 minutes and read the stone plaque engraved with his story in the center of the park.
One issue I have with the park is that it seems to have been a bit neglected in recent times. There are some overgrown weeds and unkept lawns. The 3 large fountains do not seem to be in operation anymore. I'd like to see an effort made to keep this beautiful park...

It is perhaps the most overlooked park, as Navy Pier practically borders it to the Southeast, and millions of people go there, but millions also miss this park...
It has huge beautiful old trees that lead you down a path to massive open fields perfect for dogs to run around in or play some pick up sports in. It has these huge, unique water drains that fill up after strong rains and create some amazing visual / photographic opportunities.
The best though is hugging the park lakeside where you get panoramic views of Chicago's beaches, architecture, and lakefront that continues on for miles, on a clear day you day see all the way up to Northwestern University. There's also a raised ledge over the water which again is great for getting pictures or feeling like you're floating over the water in the face of some brilliantly laid out cityscape.
It's simple, if you visit Chicago, visit this park. If you live in Chicago and haven't go, Go. I'm native to the city and love this spot for pitching a hammock and...
